KOHAKU UDON & RAMEN - VINCOM THẢO ĐIỀN - Japanese restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Kohaku Udon & Ramen occupies a spot inside Vincom Mega Mall on Võ Nguyên Giáp, pulling in shoppers and Masteri Thảo Điền residents who want a Japanese noodle meal without leaving the complex. The setting is straightforward chain-restaurant: plastic red chairs, a laminated menu aesthetic, and a wall installation worth pausing at—a Japan map tracing where the country's iconic noodle styles originated, a detail that earns repeat mentions from regulars who appreciate the context it adds to the meal.
The kitchen turns orders around quickly during morning hours, sending out hot bowls with competent broth. Ramen is the primary draw; gyoza and beef bowls round out the menu, though reviews suggest the noodle soups are where the kitchen's attention sits. The broth leans mild—accessible for those who prefer something lighter, less satisfying for anyone expecting the depth of a dedicated ramen-ya. The pork in some preparations has drawn criticism for running fatty rather than lean.
Compared to the ramen specialists along Quoc Huong and Xuan Thuy streets nearby, Kohaku reads more as a convenience option than a destination. What it does well is reliable speed and accessible pricing inside a polished mall environment. For Masteri residents or shoppers looking for a hot bowl between stores, the location removes every friction point. The 4.7 rating across 560 reviews suggests the experience lands consistently for its core audience—those prioritizing ease over depth.
Reviews
Nice ramen broth and noodles. I really like the Japan map it shows where famous Japanese noodles were first originated. Pretty nice to eat ramen right. Really convenient for Masteri residents.
Good ramen with reasonable price ☺️
I ordered two meals at 10:50am and I really enjoyed both of them. These were served in a couple of minutes. The dishes were hot, full of flavour, and delicious. I would recommend this restaurant.
3.5 stars. No bad but not great. The broth is a bit bland. Service can be improved it s like the staff has not been properly trained. Such a shame as the manager seems to care about the customers. The decoration looks cheap with the plastic red chairs. There are definitely better ramen options on Quoc Huong and Xuan Thuy street in D2. Also a lot of 5 stars review from people who only have 1 review on google. That s weird.
