The Story

About This Place

Morico Lumiere sits on Võ Nguyên Giáp, the main boulevard that cuts through Thao Dien, and its 4.9 out of 5 from 786 Google reviewers places it among the most consistently praised Japanese restaurants in the district. That score — rare at any volume, harder still to sustain across nearly 800 responses — signals something operating at a reliably high standard rather than catching a lucky streak of early fans. The restaurant runs a full seven-day week, opening at 10 AM and serving through to 10 PM, which makes it practical for weekday lunches, early dinners before the Thao Dien evening crowd peaks, and relaxed weekend meals. Thao Dien has no shortage of Japanese options, from casual ramen counters to omakase-style counters aimed at the expat and returning-Vietnamese demographic that defines the neighbourhood. Morico Lumiere's rating profile suggests it holds its own against that competition on consistency — the kind of place guests return to rather than visit once for curiosity. Without scraped menu or review text available at time of writing, specific dish details will be added as data comes in; what the numbers already establish is a track record worth noting for anyone shortlisting Japanese dining in the area.

This place is right across from our condo so we decided to try it out for sushi one night. Beautiful restaurant with a very friendly staff. They had delicious sushi and the service was prompt and top notch. We will definitely go there again for sushi.

Niece said matcha was a little too sweet. The berry drink was good. The parfait was perfectly well balanced with the sweetness. The matcha ice cream was also delicious. The facility was clean and staff were friendly and courteous.

Visited their Lumeire riverside restaurant, and love their dessert menu, tried berry parafait and chocolate waffle, and the sweetness was perfectly balance, their sorbets are must try.

MORICO Lumiere is a small and cozy spot. The food is well prepared, with great attention to both presentation and flavor. Located right next to the Metro line, it’s easy to catch moments of the train passing by while enjoying your meal. For the best view, head upstairs. Because the space is quite intimate, it never feels overly crowded. We usually visit on weekday afternoons, when it’s especially quiet—perfect for relaxed conversations and taking your time to enjoy the food.

I spent awhile shopping nearby and wanted something quick and healthy. This area has a lot of good options but what stood out to me about Morico is how extremely fresh their whole menu looked, I just love a good salad. I also wanted some sushi but didn’t expect both orders to come out so big (not complaining). There is no stinginess here and it’s all plated beautifully. I was so tempted to get a matcha but their guava cocktail looked very refreshing. Everything was delicious, light and filling! My tiny self couldn’t finish it all and I asked for the rest to go. Even their packaging is so darn cute! They put my soy sauce into the smallest bottle, the size of my thumb, instead of a container and they still separated my sushi and salad even though they can shove it all together. I got ginger, wasabi, soy sauce and cutlery with it all. Service, atmosphere, food 10/10! If I stayed closer, I would visit very often.
