The Story

About This Place

The dining room occupies a traditional Vietnamese house on Trần Ngọc Diện, a setting that gives counter seating an intimacy rare even among dedicated omakase venues. Dinner runs one session nightly at 5:30 PM, Tuesday through Sunday, and the tasting unfolds at a pace that rewards attention: early courses arrive clean and delicate, designed to open the palate, before building toward deeper umami and richer textures by the finale.

Head chef Tài brings clear command of his sourcing and technique. Reviewers consistently flag the precision of the rice-to-topping ratio and the deliberate contrasts built into successive courses — warm rice against cold fish, crisp nori against fuller preparations. Bluefin tuna has become something of a calling card, drawing comment for its texture across nearly every recent review; uni appears mid-meal and lands as a high point when available.

For a dedicated omakase format with this level of ingredient quality, the price sits well below what comparable experiences cost elsewhere in the city — which partly explains the loyal repeat clientele and near-perfect score across 365 Google reviews. Solo travelers have singled out floor staff, particularly Huy, for making single-seat diners feel genuinely included rather than incidental to a couples-focused room.

Omakase Tiger draws a mix: couples marking milestones, well-researched visitors, and regulars who return for the tuna. The traditional house adds something most modern omakase counters in Thao Dien lack — a setting appropriate to the format, unhurried and a step removed from the neighborhood's busier strips. Monday is dark; weekends book out quickly.

Great food with flavors that are well-balanced and very enjoyable. The restaurant is spacious and comfortable, with a beautiful setting that feels like an old traditional house (perfect for dining during the Lunar New Year). The pace of the dishes was just right, not too fast or too slow. Service was warm and attentive. Special thanks to Huy, who was very observant, friendly, and professional. He explained the dishes clearly and gave helpful drink recommendations. And thank you to Chef Nhân for creating such delicious dishes. Highly recommend making a reservation in advance. I had to book three weeks ahead to get a table, and it was totally worth it.

The omakase experience was truly impressive. The seafood was exceptionally fresh, with each piece melting in the mouth, allowing the natural sweetness of the ingredients to shine. The chef’s refined technique and well-balanced rice-to-topping ratio made the meal light yet deeply satisfying. The space itself felt warm and timeless, with a classic atmosphere that was both intimate and relaxing, perfectly complementing the overall dining experience 🤩🍣🤤

I was pretty excited about the experience with Omakase tiger and at some level they really did delivered. The ancient house was a very cool setup and the atmosphere was very intimate which I really enjoyed. The food did not disappoint at all. With the price they were offering, i was not expecting to be served so many types of fish and the freshness they offered. I was impressed with the bluefin tuna the most. It felt like the tuna was melting in my mouth. That was the chef kiss!💋 They were very proud of their fresh rice and performed rice mix for the guests but i found it was not holding together and put me off a little while picking the sushi up. Overall i was very happy with the food experience, the atmosphere and the price. They also offered a complimentary sushi for a Google review 🤭 The only thing that put me off is the waitress that took care of foreign guests. It felt forced making empty and uncomfortable conversations with the guests and we felt very awkward every time she came and tried to make meaningless conversations during our meal. I do think they need to invest in someone who understands customer services rather than someone who just simply can speak English. We initially planned to visit on a Monday but found the restaurant closed, so we rescheduled for Wednesday. The reservation was made under a birthday occasion, and the deposit was paid in advance. At the end of the meal, there was an interaction where the waitress made comments implying that my companion should be the one paying and offered unsolicited personal advice. Although the bill was settled and the deposit was refunded correctly, the situation felt inappropriate, as assumptions were made without understanding the guests’ arrangements. While this may reflect the actions of an individual staff member rather than the establishment as a whole, it did affect the overall experience. Improved service training around professionalism and guest boundaries would be beneficial.

Really enjoyed the omakase here! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, and the portions were just right. For the quality of the food, the price is very reasonable. Definitely one of the best value omakase spots I’ve tried in Vietnam.

This was my first omakase experience and it completely exceeded my expectations. I went on my own as a solo traveler and had an amazing time. I felt welcome and included from start to finish. The evening was truly a feast for all senses. The food was outstanding and excellent value for the price, and the atmosphere was lively and engaging. The staff was incredible and made the entire evening an unforgettable experience that I will cherish forever. I enjoyed every single moment and would happily come back. A fantastic experience, especially if you’re dining alone.
