Hưng Omakase - Japanese restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

Thank you a Hung for accommodating my husband and I along with our 6 months old. I know it’s not easy to find an omakase place kid friendly but a Hung made it happen for us. This is traditional Omakase. If you are looking for a performance then you are at the wrong place. We had the 2Mil option. All sashimi and nigiri dishes were carefully seasoned and prepared, also very fresh. There were plenty of food, we were super full after all. I want to also give a compliment on the simplicity of the restaurant set up. Everything is very minimal and clean. The staffs are friendly and polite. If you’re looking for a place for omakase, just give it a try here at Hung Omakase. You won’t be disappointed.

I have always loved anh Hưng’s way of making sushi. He serves traditional omakase - it’s straightforward with simple introductions for each serving, no background music… He treats his ingredients carefully with knowledge and respect. He let his ingredients communicate with diners and shine on its own instead of performative acts for distraction and stimulation. At Hung omakase, to my understanding, regular customers come for the quality of the ingredients, for chef’s skills in working with raw materials, for the minimal decoration and peaceful ambiance that helps them taste the flavor with focus. Truly have a lot of respect for his work!

Excellent omakase. Only one set comprising of 6 sashimi, one grilled fish, chawan mushi, 9 sushi and a desert. All in that order. Three prices: VND1.5M, 2.5M and 4.5M. The differences are based on the origin of the fishes. We opted for VND2.5M with 50% Japanese fish and 50% Vietnamese. We couldn't tell the difference but every piece was sublime. Well marinated with the right balance and for the sushi, rice at the right temperature and ideal vinegar concentration. My favourites were the shirako, torigai and amaebi. Even the yuzu sorbet was fantastic. We highly recommend Hung and will be back for another season!

Best sushi restaurant that we have had in Vietnam. Such high quality sushi. Every piece of our omakase was terrific and just melts in your mouth. One of best sushi experiences that we have ever had.

Food is as genuine and authentic to Anh Hung. Came here without any precursor what it would be like. I saw the name and a Viet chef who owns an Omakase restaurant? I'm all in. From the selection of cuts, to the level of skill and commitment he has for his craft and patrons... I'm so proud to see a Vietnamese sushi master. Anh Hung is able to share his love for the artform while dropping hints of Vietnamese flavors for a unique experience like no other. The restaurant is tucked in an alleyway, perfect for a romantic ambiance.
