The Story

About This Place

Occupying a large footprint in the basement of Landmark 81, Haidilao Huoguo operates on a scale and service philosophy that sets it apart from the hot pot options scattered across Thao Dien. The 4.9-star rating across more than 8,400 reviews is not accidental—it reflects a hospitality model built around visible effort: staff greet guests at the elevator, a dedicated waiting lounge offers complimentary tea, fresh fruit, and snacks while tables are prepared, and servers refill drinks with a frequency that borders on theatrical. The unlimited bubble tea with endless pearl top-ups has become a signature draw, as has the in-house noodle dance performance that cuts through the din of a packed dining room.

The menu leans into the variety that defines the Chinese hot pot format—multiple broth bases, a broad selection of thinly sliced meats, and a sauce station that draws consistent praise. Portions are generous enough that takeaway containers have become a practical necessity for most tables. Families with young children are well catered for: a supervised play corner with booster seating rather than bulky high chairs keeps the table footprint manageable. A nail service offered to waiting guests tips the experience into something closer to an event than a meal.

For Thao Dien diners accustomed to the neighborhood's quieter bistros and café terraces, Haidilao Huoguo represents a deliberate counterpoint—loud, celebratory, and built for groups rather than intimate evenings. The 3 AM closing time makes it a credible option when the rest of the district has gone dark, particularly on weekends when demand pushes wait times up and the lounge entertainment earns its keep.

Delivers on quality and service. When paired together with the nail service, it is worthwhile. Sauces were very good but the beef was just ok. Overall very happy.

Last weekend, my girlfriend and I had dinner at Haidilao Hotpot – 5th Floor, Landmark 81, and honestly, it was one of the most impressive dining experiences I’ve ever had. If you’ve ever heard someone say “You don’t just eat at Haidilao – you’re treated like royalty,” that’s absolutely true. Right from the elevator exit, the staff greeted us with smiles and polite gestures. Even though it was quite crowded, we were guided to a waiting lounge with complimentary tea, snacks, fruits, and even free manicure service for women. Such thoughtful details make you feel valued as a customer – something few restaurants in Vietnam can match. The dining area was bright, elegant, and comfortable, with semi-private booths and spotless tables. The background music was soft, creating a pleasant, relaxing vibe. The service was truly world-class – attentive yet never intrusive. The staff noticed every detail: refilling drinks, changing plates, wiping spills – all done gracefully and promptly. Every employee smiled genuinely, making the whole experience feel more like a 5-star hotel than a hotpot restaurant. As for the food, it was top-notch. The soup bases were flavorful – especially the Sichuan spicy broth and mushroom broth. We chose a dual pot so we could enjoy both. The meat was fresh and sliced perfectly; the seafood was sweet and clean; vegetables were fresh and neatly arranged. The highlight of the evening was the hand-pulled noodle show – a staff member came to our table to stretch noodles right in front of us, turning it into a fun mini-performance. It added a lively touch to the meal and made everyone smile. When we finished, they brought us hot towels, mints, and complimentary dessert, and kindly asked for feedback. It’s those little gestures that make Haidilao special. The price is slightly higher than average, but considering the premium ingredients, excellent service, and unforgettable experience, it’s absolutely worth it. For two people, expect around 1.2 – 1.5 million VND, depending on your order – and every dong feels justified. 👉 Highlights: Outstanding service and attention to detail. Friendly, well-trained staff. Fresh, high-quality food and rich broths. Elegant, comfortable, and spotless interior. Unique extras like manicures, snacks, and noodle shows. If you’re looking for a perfect date spot or a place to celebrate, Haidilao Landmark 81 won’t disappoint. We left full, happy, and already planning to come back.

I visited this branch with my husband to celebrate a special occasion, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. I overheard a male staff member (in red uniform) making unnecessary and hurtful remarks about my appearance, fat-shaming me to his colleague. He likely assumed I didn’t understand Vietnamese, but I understood everything clearly. This behavior is highly unprofessional and left a very poor impression. On a positive note, the female staff were polite and attentive, checking in on us regularly. I’ve visited many HDL branches across Asia, but this was the first time I’ve encountered such unprofessional behavior from the staff. Sadly, this has been my least pleasant HDL experience in Ho Chi Minh City.

5 stars on EVERYTHING!!!! Our experience was amazing. Everyone was super nice and helpful with the food, and they did everything they could and more, so we can have the best experience. Thanh Vy (the manager) is the best!!! She helped us with the making of the food, as it was our first time with the hot pot experience, and she made us feel welcome and important the whole time. On top of everything she helped us with our cab and lead us to our ride so we do not have to go on our own. The food was amazing and the atmosphere made our night unforgettable for a lifetime ☺️ Thank you Thanh Vy so much for your great help. It was awesome 👌
