The Story

About This Place

Chido Mexican sits on Trần Ngọc Diện in Thao Dien, occupying a spot within a small pedestrian shopping street that gives it a more sociable feel than a standalone restaurant. The interior splits into two distinct seating areas, with plush couches that encourage lingering over drinks rather than a quick turnover dinner. The nachos are the clear anchor of the menu — generously loaded with beef chili and melted cheese, substantial enough that even self-described big eaters struggle to finish a serving. Multiple regulars single them out as among the better nachos available in Saigon, which is a meaningful claim given how many international dining options the city now offers.

The chile con carne has drawn more mixed reactions, with one diner flagging an unexpected spice level and a side of Vietnamese sticky rice that read as out of place. That tension between authentic Mexican cooking and local adaptations runs through some of the lower-rated feedback, suggesting the kitchen is still finding its footing on certain dishes beyond the nachos. Pricing sits on the higher end for the format, though the portion sizes generally justify it.

Service has been consistently praised — staff are attentive, and at least one named waiter earned specific mention for the quality of his hospitality. The air conditioning, called out positively in several reviews, is worth noting for anyone planning a midday visit during the warmer months. Chido draws a mixed crowd of expats and international residents looking for a reliable Mexican fix in the neighborhood, and it functions well as a spot for a relaxed weeknight meal or an extended group session over snacks.

The nachos are excellent. The ambiance is also well put together, in a sort of mini shopping street. There are two separate dining areas; one for kids and one for elementary school teachers who just want a little peace. Very comfy and nice. Get the nachos with beef chili and you won’t regret it. Unless you’re Hindu or vegan, I suppose

I ordered a quesadilla from your restaurant. You took my order and for some reason ordered it from the restaurant SIMPLE PLACE and charged me same as CHIDO restaurant. I have had quesadillas in both restaurants and I know the difference. Plus you didn’t even change the packaging!!!. Answering to you: Yes correct that was me. When I picked up the package I asked the driver and he didn’t have more food to deliver in the bike. So he didn’t mix any delivery. I don’t know what happened but that was frustrating.
