The Story

About This Place

Beirut Restaurant occupies a spot on Trần Ngọc Diện where the kitchen runs well past midnight and belly dancers take the floor every thirty minutes or so. It draws a mix of Middle Eastern expats, travelers looking for familiar flavors, and Thao Dien regulars after something further from the neighborhood's standard café circuit.

The menu centers on Lebanese staples. The Beirut Mixed Grill—lamb and chicken—draws the most consistent praise, with multiple reviewers noting the meat arrives juicy and properly seasoned. The falafel gets called out specifically for its authenticity, and the arayes, meat-stuffed flatbread cooked to order, rounds out the mezze-to-grill arc that defines a typical evening here. Hummus is a fixture; the house chili sauce has developed its own following. On the drinks side, the Bourbon apple punch and Mint Cucumber Drink suggest a bar program that goes beyond what most Lebanese restaurants in the city offer, which makes sense given the venue's dual identity as a restaurant, bar, and cigar lounge.

The space includes both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor section runs with minimal lighting, which has surprised guests expecting a straightforward restaurant setup rather than something closer to a club atmosphere. Inside is better lit and more suited to a sit-down dinner. Shisha is available.

The 433 Google reviews averaging 4.4 stars don't tell a uniform story. A contingent of Middle Eastern guests—including at least one Dubai resident—find the food genuinely on par with what they eat at home. A smaller group has flagged inconsistency in the kitchen, particularly with meat preparation. Service quality has drawn complaints on certain nights.

Weekday evenings tend to run quieter. The room fills out later in the week and on weekends, when the entertainment factor is more of a pull. Sunday is the only day with midday hours, opening at 11 AM; all other days begin at 3 PM and close at 1 AM.

Visited Beirut on Sunday at 2 p.m. and we were the only customers there. We had the Beirut Sizzling Fajitas and the Mediterranean Fried Mix. The meat in the fajitas was juicy, tender, and flavorful. The cauliflower was also nicely cooked and tasted great, but the eggplant was very oily. Note that there is no house water; you have to order bottled water, which costs the same as a soft drink. The main issues were the service and the pricing. Fajitas (as the name implies) should be served with pita bread. We waited a while for the bread to arrive before finally asking for it. The waiter simply told us, 'I can bring you some if you want.' Additionally, the prices on their website and online ordering pages differ from each other and again from what we were actually charged. We paid a total of 1,034,208 VND, making it our most expensive lunch in HCMC so far. We won’t be going back.

We went for dinner. Ordered Hummus, Falafil, Beirut Mixed Grill, Arayes, and a Mint Cucumber Drink. Everything was very very tasty. I live in Dubai and I can vouch this food was better than the Lebenese food that we usually eat in Dubai. Lamb, Chicken pieces were cooked to perfection and very very juicy. Falafil was very very authentic. Arayes too was perfectly cooked. It is really such a blessing for tourists from Middle East to find such authentic food here in Vietnam. This is a must visit place for all labanese food lovers.
