The Crab Shack Thao Dien - Seafood restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
The Crab Shack sits on a quiet stretch of Lê Văn Miến in Thảo Điền, drawing steady crowds for Cajun-inflected seafood boils served with bibs and gloves provided at the table. The crawfish combo and Alaska lobster are regulars on tables, while the snow crab platter — staff cut it open so diners simply pull the meat — comes with a choice of spice levels. Garlic noodles are a standout side that multiple reviewers single out as worth ordering alone.
The kitchen sources fresh oysters, including Fin de Claire served raw in sets of six, alongside baked cheese oysters and grilled scallops with scallion oil. Calamari, Cajun-spiced fried chicken thighs, and crispy spring rolls fill out the starters. The seafood boil arrives with prawns, corn, and potatoes in a rich, spicy sauce — portions are sized for sharing between two.
Service is a consistent theme across reviews: staff explain sauce options, recommend based on taste preferences, and actively discourage over-ordering when the table is already well-stocked. Several reviewers name specific servers — Vy, Rosie, Nhi — noting that individual attention shaped their visit. Split service runs 11 AM to 1:30 PM for lunch and 5 to 9 PM for dinner, seven days a week.
In a neighborhood where dining tilts toward café culture and international fusion, this spot occupies a clear niche: a casual, hands-on seafood destination with a devoted following across expat and local diners alike. A 4.9-star average across more than 1,600 reviews reflects consistent execution rather than a single good night.

Reviews
We saw a lot of great reviews online, so my wife and I decided to try the place last night. And it really didn’t disappoint. We ordered a crawfish combo and an Alaska lobster. • Service: This was the highlight. The staff were genuinely helpful, explained all the sauces, and recommended based on what we liked. I actually wanted to order more dishes, but he was afraid we wouldn’t be able to finish everything — truly honest, no upselling like many other places. Everything from bibs to gloves was prepared, and they even cracked the lobster claws for us. Loved it. • Food: The Cajun sauce was very tasty. The seafood itself wasn’t heavily seasoned, but dipping it back into the sauce made it perfect. They also had an extra seafood dip. The lobster was fresh, and the frozen crawfish still had good sweetness and texture. • Ambience: Cozy, comfortable, nothing too fancy. • Price: Overall, you get what you pay for.

Here’s a concise 50-word Google Maps review in English for your photo: ⸻ Fresh crab, simply steamed and served with a rich green seafood sauce — sweet, clean flavor that highlights the crab itself. The presentation is neat, and the staff are attentive. Portion fits one person perfectly. Definitely worth it if you enjoy straightforward, high-quality seafood in a relaxed setting.
