Piriparapo is such a fun little Japanese yatai-style spot with great late-night energy. The vibe is cozy and stylish, perfect for grabbing cold beer and sharing comfort food. The okonomiyaki was rich, saucy, and satisfying, pairing perfectly with grilled skewers. Casual, lively, and easy to enjoy — definitely a great place to hang out with friends.

PIRIPARAPO YATAI - Japanese restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

Về Địa Điểm Này
Tucked inside the Little complex on Nguyễn Duy Hiệu, Piriparapo Yatai brings the rowdy energy of a Japanese street-food stall to Thao Dien with a modern izakaya twist. The Nagasaki champon is a standout — creamy, rich, and the kind of bowl that anchors a long night of small plates and cocktails. From the Pig Makers crew behind several local concepts, the space runs cozy and late, with last orders at 11pm and a menu built around inventive nigiri and shareable bites that pair well with beer and sake. It draws a lively after-dark crowd looking to eat well without the formality.

The atmosphere is very chill, the food is served quickly, and the staff are very attentive and lovely. The food is quite good, making it a great place to gather with friends for a meal
The restaurant has a fantastic aesthetic. It’s heavily Japan-styled, creating a cozy and authentic atmosphere that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a Tokyo eatery. It’s a great spot for photos or a nice date night. Butadon (Perfect): This was the highlight of the meal. The seasoned meat was balanced perfectly with the rice, and the fresh green onions and wasabi added the perfect bite. Piriparapo Ramen: Very impressive. The broth was incredibly hearty and rich with a satisfying garlicky punch. Aburi Soba: Delicious flavors, though the ratio felt a bit off. The toppings and fillings were so generous that they overwhelmed the noodles. I’d love to see a bit more noodle in the bowl next time! We did run into a snag with the service. Our Aburi Soba order didn't reach the kitchen, causing a 20-minute delay while our other dishes arrived. When we checked in, the waiter initially said it was "on the way," but it turned out the order hadn't been accepted in the system yet.
PIRIPARAPO YATAI offers a genuinely enjoyable taste of Japanese izakaya cuisine, with dishes that are flavorful and well-executed when available. The food clearly shows care in preparation, and it’s easy to imagine how satisfying the full menu would be on a normal day. The space itself is a highlight. The restaurant is beautifully decorated in a classic Osaka yatai–style izakaya theme, yet with much more space than what you’d typically find in Japan. This makes the dining experience more comfortable and relaxed, especially for groups or guests who prefer a less cramped setting. That said, our visit was on a Sunday, and unfortunately many dishes were already unavailable. Although the kitchen appeared well-staffed and not particularly busy, ordering was restricted until 5:00 pm. We arrived around 4:45 pm and still had to wait, which felt a bit puzzling given the situation. This slightly interrupted the flow of the experience and may leave first-time visitors a little confused. The service team is young, quick, and responsive, showing good potential. While they may not yet fully deliver the warm, lively izakaya vibe, their efficiency is noticeable. Occasionally, small details were forgotten, but nothing that felt intentional—more like the kind of things that improve naturally with experience. Overall, PIRIPARAPO YATAI is a promising spot with delicious Japanese food, an attractive atmosphere, and plenty of room to grow. With clearer ordering procedures and a bit more polish in service consistency, it could become a very strong destination for casual Japanese dining.
Nice rooftop restaurant. Indoor air conditioning also available. It is a rather popular place with cool nippon vibes. Cool place for a drink and light snacks. Recommend to come on a cool evening and dine at the roof top
