Authentic Thai flavors for real. 🌿 The larb was properly herby, the stir-fried had that strong holy basil aroma, and everything tasted like home. What made it fun is the dining style still feels a bit Vietnamese — rice comes in a small bowl and you eat with chopsticks 555 If you’re craving real Thai food in Vietnam, this place won’t disappoint. 🇹🇭✨

Sticky Rice - Thai Restaurant - Thai restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Sticky Rice occupies a cheerful spot on Quốc Hương in Thảo Điền, distinguishing itself from the neighborhood's predominantly Western dining scene with cooking that leans hard into central and northeastern Thai flavors. The whole grilled chicken draws consistent praise — properly charred, moist through the bone — and the hot and spicy pork tower soup is the kind of dish that makes people plan a return visit before they've finished the bowl. The larb arrives properly herby with a sharp citrus edge, and the papaya salad holds its brightness rather than wilting into sweetness.
The dining setup blends the two countries in small ways: rice comes in Vietnamese-style small bowls, chopsticks replace forks, yet the flavor profiles stay resolutely Thai — holy basil in the stir-fries, real heat in the soups. A tuk-tuk parked outside gives the entrance a festive, recognizable anchor and doubles as a photo spot.
The restaurant is part of the Bui Garden group, and pricing sits above the neighborhood average for Thai food; a table of four sharing four dishes and soft drinks will land around the one-million-dong mark. For diners benchmarking against casual Vietnamese options nearby that would cost half as much, that gap registers. For those after a dedicated Thai meal in a neighborhood where the alternative is another brunch café or Italian spot, the quality-to-price ratio holds up better. Service is consistently described as warm and attentive. Open daily from 9 AM, which makes it one of the few Thai options in Thảo Điền accessible for a late breakfast or early lunch.

Very nice and tasty restaurant, very well design!!! Decent and delicious dishes. Good atmosphere. Very fair prices for the quality
Everything we ordered was skillfully prepared, fresh and just a delight to the palate. Ordered the papaya salad so fresh and bright, then the thai grilled chicken !!! Some of the best whole grilled chicken I've had. my favorite though was the hot and spicy pork tower soup like nothing else I've tasted . I'll be dreaming about that soup when I go back stateside. Eat here .
The food felt authentic and fresh—the grilled pork was especially tender and flavorful. The atmosphere is really cute, with nice decor like the tuk-tuk outside that makes for great photos
Good food. However, today, the crab on the crab fried rice seems not properly cooked. 2 of my friends who ate that felt sick hours after eating- you might want to taste check before serving.
