Having been to several Machida Shoten in Japan, this brance is so out of place. The broth STINKS of pork, the noodles are inconsistent, and the place is not clean, I had to give up my bowl halfway. That explains why it's emptier than other ramen shops in Thao Dien.

Machida Shoten Japanese Ramen - Quốc Hương - Ramen restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Machida Shoten brings its Japanese chain format to Quốc Hương with a menu that stays focused on the essentials. The tonkotsu broth runs thick by default, but hot water is available at the table for diners who want to dial back the richness — a small operational detail that regulars cite repeatedly. Sesame and spring onion sit out as standard condiments, and bean sprouts can be left out on request. The spicy miso ramen draws consistent repeat visits, while a chicken-based option extends the lineup beyond the pork-heavy defaults typical of the format.
The Quốc Hương address sits within the denser part of Thao Dien's dining corridor, close to several cafés and pastry shops that fill out a longer afternoon. The room itself keeps things spare — plain tables, efficient service, the kind of setup that prioritizes throughput without feeling rushed.
A rating of 4.8 across more than 2,300 Google reviews puts Machida Shoten among the more consistently rated ramen options in the neighborhood. The praise centers on broth quality and the straightforward Japanese ramen shop atmosphere; the recurring criticism points to occasional execution gaps — cold food, oversalted toppings, and portion size relative to the price — that surface in the lower-star reviews. The Parmesan ramen that earned early loyalty has since been pulled from the menu, a gap that longtime visitors still mention.
What remains is a tight lineup built around tonkotsu and miso variants, delivered in a format that Japanese visitors tend to recognize and expats return to for its reliability. The food does not aim to surprise — the appeal is consistency, a thick bowl, and a location that fits easily into a longer evening on Quốc Hương.

Reviews
Chain ramen spot from Japan that is a few blocks walk from the mrt line. Got the spicy miso ramen , with gyoza and soda combo and a small pork fried rice.
The broth is nicely thick and tasty. I used to get the Parmesan ramen all the time, but sadly they don’t make it anymore, and I haven’t found anywhere else in HCM that does. It’s still my favorite ramen spot, and they even have a chicken option if you don’t eat pork. But please bring back the Parmesan ramen 😔
Good Ramen. I don't like the idea of putting bean sprouts but you can just order them not to, over all 4/5
Yeah, it was a good bowl of ramen I guess, but I didn't think it was all that either. Way too pricey to begin with.
