The Story

About This Place

Madame Lam draws on regional Vietnamese cooking traditions from across the country, presenting them through a contemporary lens that earned it a 2025 Michelin Selected distinction. The menu reads like a geographic tour: Phu Quoc abalone grilled with scallion oil and garlic chili fish sauce, Tay Ninh beef shank salad with wild herbs and starfruit, and deboned stream eel served with five herbs sourced from Tra Hoi. The bantam chicken — deboned, grilled with chili salt and served with fried rice — consistently draws repeat visits, while the butterfly pea flower crab fried rice with é leaf sauce and crab paste has become one of the more talked-about plates on the table.

The dining room sits comfortably between occasion-worthy and relaxed. A full-color menu book photographs every dish, which helps larger groups navigate a broad selection across grilled proteins, seafood, specialty fried rice, and salads without guesswork. Tables fill quickly, and top-selling dishes have been known to sell out before closing — a practical signal of where the kitchen's strengths are concentrated.

Service functions as a genuine differentiator. Staff members appear by name across independent reviews from different visits, a pattern that points to consistent training rather than individual effort. Servers explain dishes, pace the spread, and field substitution requests — the kind of attentiveness that makes multi-course group meals run smoothly.

For Thao Dien's dining scene, which leans heavily toward Western brunch formats and international menus, Madame Lam occupies a distinct position. The cooking grounds itself in sourcing — black brown rice, purple yam leaf, Phu Yen crab, truffle mushroom oil — and the portions are calibrated for sharing. It functions well as a single-sitting tour of Vietnamese regional cooking for tables of four or more.

This place is simply mind blowing, after coming to Vietnam so many times this place I can for sure say is the best meal I have had. Everything was good, food terms it is perfect. Unfortunately many dishes I wanted to try were sold out hopefully they can take note of it and try to prepare more stock ingredients for their best seller. Looking forward to come back again on my next trip to try the dishes that I missed this time

Michelin-listed Vietnamese restaurant, but unfortunately it was one of the most average Vietnamese set menus I’ve tried. Nothing was bad, but nothing really stood out either, especially considering the price and the Michelin label. What surprised me was that almost all the tables were booked, with only two available when I visited. It feels like a clear example of how a Michelin listing can drive traffic, even when the quality doesn’t quite justify the hype. The fried rice and the rolls were particularly mediocre and felt like the chef didn’t even try. Overall, it was a disappointing experience given the expectations.

Madame Lam is a fantastic dining experience. The food is beautifully prepared, full of authentic flavors, and clearly made with high-quality ingredients. Every dish felt well balanced and thoughtfully presented. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxed, making it a great place both for a special dinner and a comfortable night out. Stylish, calm, and welcoming. A special mention to Kim Yen, who led the service with professionalism and genuine warmth. Attentive without being intrusive, and always making sure everything was just right.. it really elevated the whole experience. Highly recommended.

We were looking for a memorable Christmas dinner, and Madame Lam exceeded all expectations. Our family of six enjoyed an amazing multi-course meal created by one of Vietnam’s top chefs. The menu took us on a journey from North to South Vietnam with a fun train station theme. Each dish was creative but still felt familiar and comforting. The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were outstanding. Our server, Tieu Ngoc, was wonderful! She was friendly, professional, and attentive throughout the evening. The overall experience was playful yet elegant, artistic yet welcoming. Five stars in every way. Don’t miss Madame Lam, especially if you’re looking to create a truly special moment.

In looking for dinner we found this cool contempary Vietnamese restaurant, @madamelamrestaurant, that is a 2025 Michelin Selected. Great atmosphere and we love the menu book which has all their dishes in full color making it easy to choose or maybe not. We tried some classic and contemporary looking dishes and they were all great tasting. Shoutout to our server, Tieu Ngoc, who made sure our dishes came out hot. Worth the trip and two 👍 👍!
