THE ORIENT BAR SAIGON - Restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
The Orient Bar Saigon occupies a spot on Võ Trường Toản in An Phú, operating as both a restaurant and a sports bar from midday through to 1 AM every night of the week. That late closing sets it apart from much of the Thao Dien dining corridor, which tends to wind down well before midnight. The 1 AM finish makes it a natural landing point for expats and locals looking to extend an evening after dinner elsewhere, or to catch a late match broadcast from European or North American time zones. With 304 Google reviews averaging 4.4, it holds a consistent reputation in a neighbourhood that is not short of competition. The venue draws a mixed crowd — Thao Dien residents, visiting professionals, and the sports-watching contingent that gravitates toward any bar with reliable screens and cold drinks. As both a restaurant and bar, it covers the practical ground of somewhere that works for a meal early in the evening and transitions comfortably into a drinking venue as the night moves on. The An Phú address puts it within easy reach of the District 2 expat cluster without being on the most tourist-trafficked stretch of Thao Dien, giving it a slightly more local feel than venues closer to the main commercial strips. Seven-day operation with uniform hours means no surprises about when it is or isn't open.
Reviews
Lovely sports bar. Not only about alcohol line-ups but also their savory menu are quite delicious. M my favorite ones are Mexican dishes. The bar has good vibes and relaxing. Table pool and darts will add excitement also. Highly recommended.
My fav sport bar in Thao Dien, all the staff are very friendly. They have big screen in side with pools. The price is affordable
I intended to try the German restaurant in the German Beer Hall, but that doesn't seem to be there anymore, or maybe it was just closed (other stuff was there; Indian, Mexican, Burger Meister, and Vietnamese?). On my way there, I saw the sign for a lamb burger here. I came back to try it, but on the menu I saw a seabass sandwich (I believe it was seabass) and the opportunities to eat a lamb burger are just more so I went for the fish (160K/$6.30). I wish I had tried the lamb burger. The fish sandwich was still ok. The size was great. It was a little crispy fried instead of flaky batter. The taste just was fishy, and the tartar sauce was thousand island. I think it was a quality fish sandwich, but I didn't care for it. 50K/$1.95 for a can of soda (the same is 13K at GS right by it). Surprisingly, there is no VAT or service fee. A bit dark inside, and I felt a little cramped sitting at the bar.
Located in a quiet neighborhood but is a fun place to hang out. Everyone here is so friendly and polite. Fresh spring rolls like my auntie made back home, fish sauce dip is on point. Quesadilla is very decent, the stuffing is just enough thus doesn’t make you feel overwhelmed. They have a nice pool table for those who enjoy this game. They have a non-smoking room inside which is good for having children around and the smoking area outside would not infuse you with cigarettes smell after. Totally worth a visit!
