About This Place

The Deck Saigon's riverfront terrace at 38 Nguyễn Ư Dĩ runs a full-day programme — quiet breakfast from 8am through lunch, dinner, and cocktail service until midnight — one of the few Thao Dien venues that operates as confidently at dawn as after dark. The open-roof dining area is the centrepiece: sunsets pull the terrace crowd, clear nights expose the sky overhead, and waterside tables are the first to fill.

The kitchen covers Asian fusion, seafood, Vietnamese, and international territory. Presentation is a consistent thread in reviews — dishes arrive composed and carefully plated, the kind of arrangement that signals the kitchen is attending to detail. Desserts earn specific callbacks from returning diners. The cocktail programme extends the visit: service reaches the level where individual staff members — Bao, Truc — are named in Google reviews, a reliable indicator of attentiveness at volume.

The crowd tends toward expats, visiting family, and business meals that need a river backdrop without the restraint of a hotel restaurant. Weekend evenings run at a markedly different register than weekday mornings, where the quiet and the early light suit the kind of long, unhurried conversation that a lunch crowd would interrupt. The reviews capture both modes: a mother-in-law's last day in Vietnam over a riverside lunch, a friend's early-morning catch-up before the heat arrives.

Among river-adjacent options in Thao Dien, The Deck holds its position through operational reliability: the food refined rather than experimental, the service trained, and a setting that functions whether the occasion is a slow breakfast or a late cocktail above the water.

A very nice and relaxing spot to dine or catch up with friends in the Thao Dien area. The menu has a lot of interesting items and I am already looking forward to coming back to try more when I am in Vietnam again.

Dining here feels like enjoying a private meal on a luxury sailing house in Hawaii. The atmosphere is elegant yet relaxing, with ocean-inspired decor and soft lighting that creates a calm, upscale mood. The food is refined and beautifully presented, using fresh ingredients that taste light and sophisticated. Each bite feels carefully crafted, perfectly matching the luxurious seaside vibe. It’s not just a meal, but a full experience of comfort, elegance, and island-inspired indulgence.

We came for the new years event at 8:30 for the second seating. Food was amazing but service was so rushed. Literally as soon as we finished one course the next one was brought out. We. Asked if we could have time between the second and were told no because the kitchen was in sequence as order put it. Very disappointed giving the amount we paid plus ordering bottle of wine and cocktails. Then before we had even finished our drinks they asked us to leave the table and go into the main bar area. The meal itself was delicious and food nicely presented. The cod was cooked perfectly. There was a mix up with the dessert and was brought the wrong dessert which was corrected. Food was definitely 5/5. Our table was in the restaurant with a decent view however the screaming child who was running around with his nanny killed a bit of the atmosphere. The dj was great as were the sparklers and fireworks for new new years. Good night but worth the price tag, not so sure.
