The Story

About This Place

On street 66 in Thao Dien's residential grid, Tartine operates at the intersection of bakery and all-day brunch café. The sourdough is baked fresh daily — substantial enough to anchor a smoked salmon Egg Royale, delicate enough to make the house morning plate of butter, jam, and honey feel complete. The shakshuka arrives at 300 grams with spiced tomatoes, bell pepper, mushrooms, and sourdough on the side; eggs benedict comes with Parma ham, sautéed kale, and truffle hollandaise. The menu stretches from brioche banana toast to a full (but not quite English) breakfast with sausage, bacon, and baked beans — all served across the same 7am-to-10pm window without a midday break.

The space has no air conditioning, which suits the open, relaxed atmosphere but can be a consideration in peak heat. The staff are young, speak good English, and are consistently noted for attentiveness — the kind of team that pulls regulars back several times in a single week. The clientele skews toward expats and the internationally-minded residents of Thao Dien, and the pricing reflects that positioning: a sandwich and a drink lands around 210,000 VND.

Plant-based options run through the menu — plant ricotta on a bagel, a watermelon and pesto salad, a falafel sandwich with hummus and pickles. The unassuming street-facing exterior means first-timers sometimes walk past without stopping. Those who do tend to return: the combination of fresh bread, a menu that holds across breakfast, lunch, and dinner occasions, and 744 Google reviews averaging 4.5 puts it among the more reliable Western brunch options in a neighborhood with no shortage of them.

Still my go-to spot for a Western brunch when I want to stay in my comfort zone. The food is fresh, and the atmosphere is cozy. The only downside is that there’s no AC, so it can get a bit too hot depending on the time of year

Ordered baguette and sour dough bread. The baguette was sent open with Grab driver which made 3 stops coming to me. Tartine isn't a new establishment, not to mention Thao Dien branch has been their driving location. There is no excuses for the lack of proper food handling and disregard to food safety. Oh, the attitude and disregard of the staff is another story, which led me to write here.

I was halfway through eating my shakshouka when I discovered TWO STRANDS OF HAIR embedded in the food. This is beyond repulsive and completely unacceptable. It represents a serious breach of basic food hygiene and safety standards. At that point, the meal was no longer edible. I immediately threw the rest away, which meant paying for a dish I could not safely consume. This is not a minor issue or a matter of personal preference, it is a fundamental failure in food handling and quality control. For a café that positions itself as reputable and premium, this level of negligence is shocking. Hair contamination is one of the most basic things a professional kitchen is expected to prevent. I strongly urge management to review their hygiene protocols before this happens to another customer.

We came for a late breakfast. All the bread we tried was fresh, soft, & delicious. Hot food was also very tasty - quiche was enough for 2. Cappuccino was very good. Our server was attentive & super friendly. We were so happy to find Tartine & will definitely look for their other locations while we are in town!

The staffs were friendly. The chicken sandwich was great, very flavourful. The bake cheese cake was good too, not too sweet
