not the worst place to do a bit of work: open space, comfy sofas and decent tables, and the staff are friendly enough. just a shame the coffee is overpriced and wack. shalom always been like that though. tried the food once and same conclusion - meh.

Shalom Coffee Tropic Garden - Cafe in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Shalom Coffee occupies a ground-floor space inside Tropic Garden, the apartment complex on Đường Số 66, and its clientele reflects that location — largely residents from the building and the streets immediately surrounding it. The setup rewards those who settle in: large open seating areas, comfortable sofas, and tables that function properly for a laptop, a combination that's harder to find in District 2 than it should be.
The coffee program is the main draw. Vietnamese milk coffee earns consistent praise, and espresso-based drinks hold up across visits. On the food side, avocado egg on toast has become the default order for regulars, and the banana muffin rounds out a short but reliable breakfast menu. The kitchen keeps things straightforward, which reads as a fair trade for the calm environment to some guests; others find the pricing steep relative to portion ambition. That tension shows up in the reviews — but so does the repeat-visit rate.
Hours are a genuine differentiator. Opening at 6:30 AM on Monday and Sunday, and 7 AM the rest of the week, it catches the early crowd before Thao Dien's busier all-day spots get rolling. The kitchen closes at 5 PM most days, so this isn't a dinner or late-afternoon option, but for a morning meeting, a focused work session, or a quiet read, the window is generous. Parking is available on-site, which matters in this pocket of the neighborhood. Staff earn consistent mentions for friendliness, though service pace draws the occasional note. At 4.3 stars across 111 Google reviews, the overall picture is a reliable local spot that earns its regulars through consistency and calm.
Reviews
I had to wait for a client so popped in for a quick bite & a coffee. Everything was fantastic. Very pleasant service, very high quality coffee & delicious avocado egg on toast. This will be my go to for premium coffee & great cuisine.....banana muffin was moist & delectable.
the most simple dishes (almost so simple in their execution it is offensive) for the most steep prices. there may be no better example than shalom for a place that really isn’t worth it. and has no particular good reason as to why it should still exist.
It’s a cafe situated in Tropic Garden apartment in Thao Dien, District 2. Nothing impressive about the drinks and food, but I like that it’s spacious and quiet. Most guests here are the apartment’s or nearby residences. One can easily stay here to work all day long.
Great coffee shop in Topic garden. Recommend for anyone. Parking available. Staffs are friendly.
