Singapura Kitchen - Chicken restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Singapura Kitchen occupies a specific and underserved niche in Thao Dien: Singaporean and Malaysian home cooking for the neighborhood's sizable expat population. The crowd is a reliable indicator — Singaporeans and Malaysians living in Ho Chi Minh City who treat the place as a regular stop when homesickness hits, rather than a novelty outing. The laksa draws the most consistent praise, described as creamy and close to what one would find back home. The broth is rich rather than sharp, the kind that improves as the noodles absorb it. Nasi lemak arrives with coconut rice and a sambal that reviewers note is well-spiced, though the portion of sambal runs small. The otak-otak sausage alongside it is a detail that signals some care in sourcing. Hainanese chicken rice is present and draws comparisons to Singapore standards — leaning mild, which some diners appreciate and others find underwhelming depending on what they're used to. Beef rendang and mee rebus fill out a menu that covers the broad strokes of the Singaporean hawker canon without veering into fusion territory. The setting is straightforward — the draw is the food itself rather than the room. For Thao Dien, which skews heavily toward Western-leaning cafés and Vietnamese staples, Singapura Kitchen is one of the few places where Southeast Asian expats can find something close to a reference point. The 4.7 rating across 57 Google reviews reflects a loyal repeat customer base more than viral discovery.

I am Malaysian living in Ho Chi Minh so I came here when I was homesick. The Nasi Lemak here delivered good taste, ok coconut rice with nice Sambal. The only thing is sambal amount is so little. Nice otak2 sausage to go along with the Nasi Lemak. The Curry Laksa only have one type of noodle choice. Curry laksa taste is bland but good topping amount. Food here is definitely better than MKitchen. Worth coming to try.
I came here a few times and tried the food and it was good. Similarly to what you would get in Singapore. So far, I have tried their Laksa, Mee Rebus and the Beef Rendang. Laksa was excellent, the rest are good too! Thanks for providing comfort food for Singaporeans who missed home.
Food taste is same2x to the one in Takashimaya.
Was recommended this place by a Singaporean for good laksa. The noodle was a little mild but very creamy.
