Bazaar Restaurant - Halal restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Bazaar Restaurant sits on a quiet stretch of Trần Ngọc Diện, far enough from the main Thao Dien strip that first-time visitors frequently report their drivers getting lost. The trade-off is a genuinely unhurried atmosphere — Central Asian-inspired decor, low lighting, and a menu that spans a wider geography than most restaurants in the district attempt.
The kitchen draws from Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, and Central Asian traditions under strict halal certification. Greek salad and beef shawarma share a menu with Lagman — a signature Uzbek-style handmade noodle soup with beef and spices — and Manti, steamed lamb dumplings prepared from Olga's Mom's recipe. The lentil soup, built from red lentils, carrot, celery, and cream, has drawn comparisons in reviews to bowls found in Turkey. The Kofte Plate — five lamb cutlets with biryani rice, homemade pita, and a small salad — is among the more substantial mains and pairs well with the mezze plate of tzatziki, baba ganoush, and hummus ordered for the table. For something lighter, the feta watermelon salad with mint, cucumber, and lime juice holds up well in warm weather.
Weekend hours open at 8 AM, making this one of the few halal options in Thao Dien for morning diners. Weekday service starts at 3 PM; the restaurant is closed Mondays.
Owner Egor is frequently mentioned in reviews for being present and attentive, offering recommendations that reflect real familiarity with the menu. Service runs fast. The space does run warm — ventilation has drawn comments — and an outdoor element means mosquitoes can factor in on humid evenings.
For Muslim residents and visitors navigating Thao Dien's largely non-halal dining scene, this address fills a specific gap with cooking that holds its own on flavor alone.

Had a good lunch here. I must say I found it quite expensive. 4 mantis for 399k... I don't think the portions and taste are worth the cost. But the food was good overall. To me it's a 4*
Bazaar Thao Dien is a lovely place to enjoy authentic Arabian cuisine. The food was phenomenal, full of deep, rich flavors that really stood out. Every dish was well-prepared and satisfying. The ambiance was cozy and understated, creating a relaxed and intimate setting that complements the cuisine beautifully. Service was decent, but unfortunately, the space was very hot during our visit. I politely asked the waiter to adjust the temperature, but my request was disregarded, which made the dining experience a bit uncomfortable. Despite that, the overall quality of the food and the peaceful atmosphere made it a memorable meal. With some improvements to guest comfort and responsiveness, this restaurant could become a true gem in Thao Dien.
Fantastic food paired with a wonderful atmosphere! 😍 This Middle Eastern gem with a Mediterranean twist combines vibrant flavors with decor inspired by Central Asia. We enjoyed the Lamb Pilaf (Uzbek-inspired) and Meat Platter both tender, flavorful, and best eaten hot. The Greek and watermelon salads were fresh and delicious. Owner Egor was exceptionally warm and offered excellent recommendations, The staff were all lovely, enthusiastic and super quick service. Though slightly tucked away, that’s part of its charm, private, peaceful, and perfect for a romantic dinner or a night out with friends. Plenty of parking, too. Highly recommend! 🥰
