Great place to have a chill coffee. Always lots of people working from there and just relaxing. Great coffee and great service. I frequently go with work colleagues but it is a great place to go alone also. Has cool koi fish pond and the design of the cafe is warm and inviting while also being a creative space.
Nam’s Coffee & Cake - Coffee shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Nam's Coffee & Cake occupies a small but carefully composed space on Đường số 1 in An Phú, where jungle-style greenery and a koi fish pond give the room a settled, unhurried quality. The owner, Nam, is hands-on — that investment shows in the specifics: fresh fruit in the Berry Lover smoothie instead of syrup, normal-sized tables that actually accommodate a laptop alongside a coffee, and a breakfast menu that runs properly Vietnamese.
The morning plates are a genuine draw. Stir-fried pork with green beans, soup, and soy-soaked eggs make for a fuller start than most cafés in the area offer. Bánh mì comes with pâté and egg, occasionally upgraded with extra beef slices. The salted coffee is the house signature. The orange cake has its own following among regulars who stay for a second round.
Afternoons bring a reliable mix of solo workers and small groups, drawn by mellow background music and an atmosphere where the pace is clearly set by the customer. The koi pond and layered greenery offer a texture that sits apart from the minimalist white-wall aesthetic common to newer spots along the main Thao Dien strips. Prices are modest enough that a two-hour sit feels comfortable rather than like an imposition.
This is the kind of place regulars describe as a weekly default rather than a destination — familiar but not tired, busy on weekends without losing its quiet core. The small footprint does show when it fills up, but the atmosphere holds. One item surfaced in reviews worth noting: a 1-star reviewer raised specific concerns about animal welfare on site — the koi pond reportedly holding low water levels and a dog kept in a muzzle — a detail some visitors may want to factor in before going.
Reviews
Pretty small. Reasonable price.
The food is good, i ordered banh mi with pate and extra egg but they gave me extra beef slices...super happy tummy. The place is cool, although it is small but the environment is super pleasant and relaxing. Mellow music is played and it brings back older memories. A great choice for a saturday afternoon coffee.
Nam’s coffee has a perfect atmosphere for chilling here. The jungle-style decoration makes people feel like they are enjoying nature when they come here to drink coffee! Perfect place for breakfast 🍳
Animals shouldn't just be for show, aesthetics. They should be cared for! Do not support until they make changes on how they take care for the animals they use to make their cafe look 'cute'. It's a nice litte artsy café BUT the fish pond has very low water for the adult koi fish, which makes it hard for them to swim around; it's cruel. And their dog is wearing a muzzle all the time, which is not advisable and, again, very cruel. I wouldn't recommend to support this place until they treat their pets humanely!
