The Story

About This Place

Le Flaneur sits on Trần Ngọc Diện in a French-inspired garden courtyard that fills with morning light before most of the surrounding block has unlocked its doors. The 8am opening is a practical draw in this part of Thao Dien, where the majority of cafes don't start service until 10am — giving early risers a quiet hour or two before the neighborhood fills up.

Owner Jonathan has built a deliberately personal atmosphere: the space is small, service is attentive, and regulars comment on the care put into small details. Barista Dung runs the coffee bar with the same unhurried approach. The result is a cafe that draws solo workers, couples, and small groups looking for somewhere to settle rather than pass through.

The drinks menu focuses on coffee and non-coffee options without overreaching. Lattes and mochas are reliably solid, and the pricing undercuts most specialty-focused spots in Districts 1, 2, and 7 by a noticeable margin. The yuzu matcha is a standout among the non-coffee options — ordering with a specified sweetness level is the move. The coconut latte has earned consistent mention across reviews. Fresh juices fill out the rest of the menu. Food options are minimal to nonexistent depending on the day, so the space skews toward drinks-only visits.

The courtyard setup is the main trade-off: open-air seating means warmth as the morning progresses, and regulars suggest bringing mosquito repellent for evening visits. The garden atmosphere and relative quiet compensate. Weekend evenings see a cocktail menu come into play, broadening the venue's appeal past its daytime coffee identity. Apple Pay and major credit cards are accepted.

Le Flaneur Cafe & Bar is a charming French-inspired café tucked away in District 2. It's a small place with outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a quiet coffee break. The service is friendly and attentive. The menu offers a regular range of coffee shop beverages, and I enjoyed the Coconut Latte. Unfortunately, there were no pastries or light snacks available. Apple Pay and credit cards are accepted, which is convenient. Overall, it's a lovely and peaceful spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Cute little French style courtyard cafe to chill at and enjoy a good coffee. They also open a bit earlier than their neighbors which is a bonus. Bring mosquito repellent.

Love everything of this café!!! The owner (Jonathan) and the barista (Dung) were so friendly ❤️ Jonathan created very relaxing and chilled vibes - I felt like home there. He paid great attention to little things, which really impressed me! The service was awesome! In terms of the coffee, needless to say, it’s soooo good! I ordered a latte and a mocha, which lived up to my expectation. The coffee was amazing but price was very affordable compared to other specialty coffee shops in D2, D1 and D7. Especially for mocha, they used cocoa from Marou but it was only 60.000 VND (Yay! I’ll be loyal to the mocha there!)! I’m still improving my art-making skill for latte so I asked Jonathan to let me make art after the Dung the barista stretches the milk, he even invited me to go into the bar to learn with Dung and practice doing that (which is soooo rare as many cafe owners / chef don’t let strangers get into their working places 😅). It was just my first time coming there but I felt so comfortable as if I was a regular customer. Usually I choose to visit a place often because of its service (I even prefer service to quality), this cafe satisfied me with both service and coffee quality, I’m sure I’ll visit it more and more and of course, I’ll bring more friends with me as they will definitely love it (like I do) 😊

The yuzu matcha is excellent and a must-try. Please tell the bartender your preferred sweetness level.

quaint and quiet little coffee spot. baristas are friendly. I love the drinks and juices here. the space is nice and open but it can get very hot. most of the shops around tend to open around 10am. so a good time to come here to enjoy coffee + shopping is from 10am and onwards. if you come early the place is not open.
