I had a wonderful experience at House of Banh Mi. The bánh mì was served fresh and hot, which made it even more delicious. My husband ordered the Char Siu, and I had the grilled pork shoulder—both were incredibly flavorful and cooked perfectly. The owner was personally serving and preparing the food, which made the experience feel even more welcoming. It’s a quaint little place, but very comfortable and charming. We also tried the fresh juices, and they were excellent. Overall, it was a great experience, and we will definitely be visiting again!
House Of Bánh Mì - Vietnamese restaurant - Restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
House of Bánh Mì occupies a small, comfortable space on Thảo Điền street, opening at 7:30 AM and closing before evening—a schedule built around the traditional bánh mì meal window rather than the café-brunch rhythm that dominates much of the neighborhood. The owner works both the counter and the kitchen, preparing each sandwich to order; reviewers consistently note that the bread arrives hot and the fillings are properly seasoned rather than assembled in advance.
The bánh mì gà nướng stands out as the most reordered item—grilled chicken on a baguette with the kind of crunch that signals the bread wasn't sitting in a warmer. The Char Siu and grilled pork shoulder variations draw equally positive feedback, described as flavorful and evenly cooked. An egg bánh mì comes paired with a curry dipping sauce that multiple customers cited as a reason to return. The menu also includes a soup option, which is uncommon for a bánh mì-focused spot and broadens appeal for diners who want something lighter.
Drinks cover Vietnamese coffee, fresh-squeezed juices, and specialty lattes. Pricing is notably below the Thao Dien average for comparable food quality—a distinction that carries weight in a district where imported-coffee cafés set the default price point.
The crowd skews toward expats and local residents in search of a fast, filling meal without the wait times or minimum spends of larger nearby venues. With 48 reviews averaging 4.8 stars, the early reception is strong. For anyone in Thao Dien wanting a focused bánh mì rather than a full brunch menu, the deliberate simplicity here is the point.

Crunchy banh mi & good taste itself. I had breast chicken banh mi which is really tasty, should be the best seller! They also have many options for beverages, Vietnamese coffee and fresh juice are all good. Good price in the area too!
Quick, affordable, tasty. Egg was perfectly cooked and they give you a great curry dipping sauce. Worth it!
The chicken banh mi was delicious and healthy. The prices are really good for the area, even before the 30% opening discount offer. The staff and owner were very friendly. The whole menu looks great, will definitely be back soon to try the other dishes and drinks. Oreo chocolate late 😍
The bánh mì is so good here, I love the bánh mì gà nướng and the price is great too. I will definitely be going back here!
