Genshi Yaki - Japanese Grill Restaurant - Vietnamese restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

Excellent food! Everything I ordered was fresh, well prepared, and promptly served.

Food is good, service is okay. But the worst thing I hate are untruthful businesses like this. Contrary to Japanese honesty values. It happened multiple times, in which I’ve warned and told them to update the wrong information they write on google. But I guess this is a trick they do to gain more customers. You come at around 9pm to dine at GENSHI-YAKI by entering at their entrance and immediately they will lead you to SHAMOLI via an internal entrance. The first time, I thought it was weird but just thought it’s simply because they’ve cleaned outside. But you are actually LITERALLY DINING AT SHAMOLI (their menu, their price & their service—- only the owner is the same). I was enraged for wasting my time. The second time, they led me again into this trap and I told them no and that they must update their wrong time info or at least let the customer know that GENSHI restaurant is not accepting customers anymore and refer to another restaurant. Because similar owner doesn’t make two different restaurants the same. 3rd and 4th times happened and I’m finally warning people here. If this isn’t a scam, I don’t know what LIE is this. Such a waste this restaurant seems to be serving decent foods. Although their menu is pretty less interesting than it used to be before as well.

This is a typical, authentic Japanese restaurant. There are tables with grills in the middle of the tables and different activities in the evening. The food was tasty, and everything was great.

The nicest place to relax, the staff are fantastic professional polite and friendly. When I come back to Ho Chi Minh I will be coming back for my beer and sake. Thanks for looking after me. John.
