Eddie's (District 2) New York Deli & Diner - American restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

After seeing a few videos of this place on social media, on how it's probably THE ONLY American Diner in the city, where one of the business owners is an American and figured this is a viable business here, paticularly in a part of the city where lots of expats reside. I have to say I am very impressed at how they've implemented this place. It's not just burgers, but they do milk shakes aswell very well with a very vast selection, and give you the entirety of what's leftover that could not be poured into the glass, by serving it to you on a large metal cup (to make you feel like you deserve the whole thing since you paid for it), so two people could share it. Though the prices aren't exactly affordable for the locals (certainly not for the staff living in the city earning 33k per hour), the target audience is definately for expats or tourists (which is fine, so long as businesses like this support the local economy and provide jobs). I was going to give this place a 4/5 due to price of items, but opted to give it the full 5 because I realise they employ extra staff, to provide more jobs for the locals as opposed to investors pocketing the money, so this business is there to help the people. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience on August 4th. I learned that it was National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day and we were offered one each when we sat down. The cookie was rich, the mimosas were divine, the food portions were huge, and my meal was delicious. Highly recommend the Tex Mex skillet. Will be back soon!

Overall atmosphere is very good for that classic American diner feel. Milkshake and fries nail that American taste. Corndog and mozzarella sticks are good, but not at the American taste that you would expect. French Silk pie is also delicious. Closest thing I have had in my time in Vietnam to American food across many cities! Staff were ok, didn't really greet at the door or have enthusiasm like you'd want from a American Diner experience. Eddie's is one of the few places I've tried that serves authentic American comfort food. I visited the Thao Dien branch, and the first thing that caught my attention was the atmosphere—it felt just like the classic American diners you often see in movies. I ordered a hamburger, a hot dog with smashed potatoes in gravy and mayo cabbage, onion rings, and pancakes with honey for dessert. The portions are huge, so if you don't eat much, you might want to share. Everything was well executed, with good flavors and quality ingredients. It was enjoyable, but personally it didn't quite reach the "wow" level for me. One detail I really appreciated was the selection of condiments on every table. Seeing brands like Tabasco and Heinz added a nice authentic touch to the overall experience. The prices aren't cheap, but they're reasonable considering the portion sizes and quality. Overall, it's a great place to experience authentic American food in Ho Chi Minh City, especially if you're craving that classic diner vibe.

The place looks nice ,like a diner from the 50s. Lots of choice on the menu, but I find it rather confusing. But its good that they even have options for vegetarian, although i'm not onemofnthem. Food was good, not the standard stuff. Cinnamon roll could be better. Staffs were good and seems to be having fun working there. Update: updated to 5 star due to the amazing reply by owner and the fact that i still think about this place although I'm out of Vietnam.
