Superb location in the heart of Xuan Thuy in Thao Dien. The restaurant has been thriving for 09 years now. Love the charismatic decor which sweeps you over to Mexico City. Super service and really tasty authentic food. Today we just loved a few plates of tacos and carnitos. Was also a pleasure to meet the owner, a very dedicated English chap.
We noticed this Mexican place is always bustling at night so we went in for drinks. We enjoyed the local beer and cider with their iconic corn chips and salsa. They were good priced. The place is air conditioned but it can be noisy and hard to talk inside.
My girlfriend enjoyed the food, and while the flavors aren't quite what I'm used to as an Asian customer, I thought it was decent overall. The only disappointing part was the “automatic tip” added to the bill. In many Asian countries, tipping is optional, so this felt unexpected. I would prefer customers to have the freedom to decide whether to tip based on their experience. Because of this policy, I probably wouldn't return.
It’s a chill place with a nice atmosphere and a chill waitstaff. But they fry almost everything and what isn’t fried is covered in sauce so it’s way less healthy than the Mexican food I have had in southern California but also much more unhealthy.
Food was great for a gringo. Got all the Mexican vibes properly appropriated. Deserves 5 stars if they can get a frozen margarita done thickly and flavorful instead of crunchy and watery.
