The Story

About This Place

The Hummingbird Café & Roastery occupies two buildings down a side alley — one the café, the other a working roastery. The smell of freshly roasted beans drifts through the entrance before the first sip, which goes some way to explaining why it holds a 4.6 rating across 636 reviews. The surrounding greenery and distance from main-road noise give the space a calm, almost residential quality that is hard to find in this part of the city.

The bean program draws from both local and imported origins. The Vietnamese Liberica single origin has earned consistent praise from regulars, and the cold brew arrives in bottles with tea ice cubes — a considered touch. The vanilla salted caramel latte uses housemade syrup rather than a commercial pump, and the iced cappuccino comes with a layer of floating cream and a dusting of cinnamon. Baristas are knowledgeable enough to start a conversation about roast profiles and ask whether a cappuccino is landing as expected.

Food is a secondary priority but handled with more care than is typical. The plain croissant is properly laminated — flaky and buttery in the way that separates real pastry work from the frozen-and-baked versions found at most cafés in District 2. The cream cheese brownie and scones with cream and jam complete a small, consistent pastry selection baked in-house daily.

Seating across two floors handles laptop workers without feeling cramped, and the alley setting filters enough street noise to make extended stays practical. The crowd skews toward specialty coffee drinkers, expats, and visitors who have done their research. Open daily 8 AM to 7 PM.

We found this hidden gem just 4 minutes walk from our hotel. These are master baristas and everything was made with precision. One of the best coffees we had so far in Vietnam. A must go to if you are a coffee lover.

When the aroma of freshly roasted coffee greets you at the entrance, you know a café takes its craft seriously. Hummingbird is among the standout roasteries in Saigon, offering a refined blend of imported and local beans that truly shines in every cup. Their menu is the kind that keeps you coming back—each drink feels like the next irresistible discovery. Beyond coffee, they serve a daily selection of house‑baked pastries at prices that feel like a steal compared to high‑end pastry shops. The brownie, in particular, has earned its spot as a crowd favorite. The only limitation is the shop’s size—half the space is dedicated to the impressive roasting equipment, leaving fewer tables than you might hope for. That said, the best seat in the house is right by the roasters, where you can sip a cappuccino while the rich scent of beans fills the air. All in all, Hummingbird is a perfect stop when you’re craving quality coffee and a quick recharge.

Their coffee was excellent, I took a single origin from Vietnam (Liberica), absolutely loved it. Also their plain croissants are the real deal, my god! I was shocked, love it!

Genuinely passionate and knowledgable baristas work here. The barista that made my drink asked if I was enjoying my cappuccino. I definitely did. I wish I could come here regularly!

One of my top 3 coffee shops in Saigon. ☕️🫶🏻 I've visited the coffee shop 2 times from which one was totally full so I was a bit sad haha. But the first time the service, atmosphere and quality of service is exceptional. First of all it is located in small side alley which makes it one of the quietest coffee shops in Saigon. There is a lot of greenery around which enhances the vibe. 🌿 The shop is separated into 2 buildings, one is the coffee shop itself and the second is the roastery (named Blue in Green). There is enough inside seats and also some are outside but mostly bench with small tables. The quality of the beans is exceptional and theyre roasting them inhouse. We ordered the pour over from imported beans and they prepared it exactly as i expected. We also ordered the scone which was the best scone in my life (and ive tried a lot). 🥹 You can pay by card/qr or cash, which is a huge deal for kind of a small coffee shop. 😍 I would highly recommend this one. 🙌🏻
