Sharon Bakery and Cafe - An Phu Supermarket - Bakery in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Sharon Bakery and Cafe occupies a small storefront on Thao Dien street, drawing expats and neighborhood regulars who return specifically for the shakshuka — a dish that earns consistent praise for its depth of flavor and freshness, typically served alongside slices of house-baked sourdough suited for dipping. The bread itself has become a talking point: baked in-house daily, it holds up against any bakery in the district and is priced more reasonably than many boutique competitors nearby.
The menu leans Mediterranean in a way that feels considered rather than trend-chasing. The Jerusalem bagel pesto sandwich has its own following, the tuna sandwich consistently over-delivers, and for those who skip coffee, the fresh ginger tea — made from actual root with no tea bags in sight — stands out as one of the better versions in the neighborhood. The coffee is taken seriously too.
The owner's investment in the product comes through in small gestures: staff ask about bread and egg preferences before preparing dishes, and on some visits guests have been handed samples from the oven or sent home with a complimentary loaf. English is spoken comfortably, which makes the experience accessible for newcomers. The space is compact, which shapes the dynamic — conversation between staff and diners happens naturally in such close quarters, though regulars who prefer a quieter meal may want to arrive early before peak morning hours.
Open daily from 7 AM to 7 PM, Sharon Bakery fills a gap that few places in Thao Dien address: a working bakery with a kitchen that treats the food — not just the bread — as the main event.
Reviews
Finally a really good ginger tea. Fresh ginger and no tea bags 😊 Also I had the tuna sandwich which was so delicious. Absolutely recommend this place 🥰
Shakshuka and Mediterranean breakfast were absolutely perfect here — very flavorful, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The staff was incredibly attentive, making sure to ask about our bread and egg preferences. Their English is very good as well, which made it easy and enjoyable to have a little chat. They even offered us a taste of their baked goods and surprised us with a freshly baked loaf to take home for free. Such a warm and thoughtful gesture! This has been our best breakfast experience in Vietnam so far. Highly recommend!
Honestly an unbelievable breakfast! By the far the best shakshouka I’ve had in Saigon paired with a perfect piece of sourdough toast for dipping. The coffee was spot on too! The owner is passionate about his products- you can tell the food comes from the heart. Will definitely be making a weekly visit!
Fantastic menu items, I loved the Jerusalem bagel pesto sandwich. Perfect for the morning. I'll definitely be coming again!
