Small coffee that has a decent menu. Not many seatings but cozy enough. Coffee tasted good, nothing super outstanding but not bad either. It is situated in the family garden 2 area, so if you’re fancying a coffee while exploring around, after food or attending workshops, this place is a rec.

Cafe 1/4 Mot Phan Tu 茶寮さいごん - Cafe in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Cafe 1/4 Mot Phan Tu occupies a kiosk-sized space inside Oishi Town off hẻm 28 Thảo Điền, and its matcha program is what distinguishes it from the broader Thao Dien cafe scene. The matcha is sourced from Uji, Kyoto — ceremonial grade — and the baristas are notably knowledgeable about its origin and preparation, explaining why it reads less bitter than the matcha at most Vietnamese cafes. The matcha cream has drawn consistent praise as a standout, and the house combinations of matcha milk coconut and matcha coconut water balance the grassy depth of the tea against a tropical sweetness that works well in Saigon heat. Cold brew is available for coffee drinkers, and oat milk is offered across the menu — a small but telling signal about where the cafe positions itself.
The space is deliberately compact, with limited seating that keeps things quiet and unhurried rather than packed. Regulars come to linger over a drink and catch up with friends rather than cycle through quickly, and the baristas — repeatedly singled out in reviews for their warmth — reinforce that atmosphere. Pricing is consistent with the specialty end of Thao Dien, which some visitors find steep, but the sourcing and preparation justify the positioning for matcha enthusiasts.
The alley location inside Oishi Town requires a moment of navigation on a first visit. The complex sits alongside a family garden area, a workshop space, and neighboring restaurants including Nanaimo Oyster Bar, making the whole stretch a natural destination for an afternoon rather than a quick stop. Parking is available through the Oishi Town lot managed by the security officer near Nanaimo Oyster Bar. For visitors whose interest is specifically matcha treated with care, this is one of the few spots in the district where that focus is genuine.
Reviews
Good drinks 😃 Small coffee place 🙂 Service ok 🙂
Super cute spot, tried the matcha milk coconut and matcha coconut water. Both were amazing! The matcha cream is the best I've ever had. Would be coming back.
Matcha very average grade, no exceptional flavor profile, and too expensive for the price🥲 too much ice also ruined the expensive, making the drink way too diluted. My parter did enjoyed his coldbrew. oatmilk option available. A bit hidden in the alley but very easy to reach, love their cosy atmosphere/ambience
The taste of the coldbrew coffee is ordinary one, not so stunning, but we still can put as an option to come again Price same like thao dien area which is higher than other area But the atmhosper really good for brunch
