The space is large and airy. You can sit either inside or outside, but I recommend sitting outside because there are many trees and it feels refreshing. There’s also plenty of space to take beautiful photos. The drinks are good, but they smell a bit too sweet — I suggest ordering with 50% sugar. Overall, it’s a good vibe, especially when you come with people you love. 🌿☕

Phê-La - Coffee shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Phê-La has built a clear identity on Xuân Thủy's dense café strip: a bottled, cold-format drink range anchored by the in-house La Cà line. That line spans a 100% Robusta-Arabica cold brew sourced from Lâm Đồng, a classic sweetened condensed milk coffee, and La Canai — a fresh-milk variant intended for all-day drinking. The cold brew teas are positioned as stomach-friendly, explicitly described as neither bitter nor astringent, which gives them a point of difference from the more intense caffeine formats common to the surrounding block.
The menu reads as thoughtfully layered for different palates. The Smoked Oolong Milk Tea brings a distinctive smoky note that separates it from standard milk tea offerings. The Jasmine Matcha Latte uses Vietnamese oolong matcha, landing somewhere between a traditional matcha and a floral green tea. For non-coffee drinkers, honey lemon tea, lemon chrysanthemum honey tea, and bottled cold-brew green tea fill out the options. A standing buy-three-get-one promotion on cold brew teas signals that the operation is optimized as much for group pickups and office runs as for solo sit-downs.
With 1,575 Google reviews at 4.1 and consistent daily hours from 7 AM to 10:30 PM, the café serves a broad range of visitors — early commuters, midday remote workers, and evening social groups alike. The Thảo Điền address places it among several specialty drink shops competing for the same foot traffic, but the bottled product line and the coherent La Cà branding give Phê-La a more retail-forward identity than most neighbors, appealing to repeat customers who know exactly what they are coming for.
Reviews
Honestly, it’s a no from me. Not good at all. What kind of jasmine milk tea is this? The jasmine flavor is way too strong. I really like jasmine milk tea, but not this kind of jasmine. It’s bitter and astringent, there’s no milk tea flavor at all. I remember it tasted so good last year? 😒 This one is terrible. I tried to finish it but couldn’t. Ended up throwing away half the cup.
Phê La is by far the largest, most beautifully designed, and well-invested location in the entire chain. There’s a dedicated area for customers who want to experience high-quality oolong tea, brewed right on the spot using various methods, all clearly explained in detailed flyers. The space captures the essence of rural Vietnam with traditional elements, enhancing the overall experience. The second floor is reserved for the VIP menu, adding an exclusive touch to the visit. Overall, it's a unique and immersive experience, especially for tea lovers looking for something authentic and special.
Went here on the opening day. It was chaotic and confusing. Got welcomed by a friendly staff. She took us to 2nd floor where they has “coffee & tea exhibition” something and drinks are “artisan” up there. Drinks are expensive and mediocre. I did expect more for the quality. Drinks took more than 30 mins, as my tea took 40 mins. Our bill was 100k for coffee and 90k for tea (that I thought it was coffee made by moka pot). I didn’t like the sitting either. The 2nd floor layout was strange and inconvenient. The order counter and pick up counter is right at the entrance door, and just 1-2 people waiting to order drink standing in narrow space, blocking the ways for other guests to enter or exist. Even staffs has problems with this. Floor 1 and 3 look like normal café more.
Phela has some of the best milk tea in town, if you’re into the taste of real high quality tea leaves. I’ve tried pretty much all the tea items on their menu, but the ones I usually get are vanilla milk tea with tea bubbles or rice bubbles and peach milk tea with peach jelly. They have a variety of other“bubbles” and they all taste good. They also keep coming up with new items and new bubbles too. They’re less sweet than other shops but I still order 70% sugar. The only problem I have with pretty much all of their stores in the city is parking. They’re all located on busy streets/ in busy areas with very little space to park a car, so I mostly take out while illegally parking my car or sometimes just order delivery from a nearby restaurant which has parking. Hope they’ll open up more stores soon.
