It became my new favourite coffee shop in D1/2, HCMC. I tried it almost by chance as I was meeting a friend there. I loved everything, the coffee, the cup, the passion fruit juice the orange juice, the decorations, the tables, the vibes. Everything awesome!

Hue Cafe Roastery - Cafe in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
Hue Cafe Roastery occupies a shophouse on Xuân Thủy, and the first thing regulars notice is the beans — sourced and roasted in-house, Arabica stock that moves fast enough that at least one customer goes through a bag a week. The menu skews heavily Vietnamese: salt coffee arrives rich and creamy, rewarding patience as the ice melts and the sweetness opens up; coconut cream over iced Vietnamese drip has developed a morning-run following; egg coffee rounds out the traditional register. Pour overs and western espresso drinks are available for those who want them, but the crowd here — mostly locals — tends to arrive knowing exactly what they came for.
The room runs dark, a deliberate contrast to the louder chain cafes competing for space in this stretch of Thao Dien. Music plays without dominating. WiFi is available. The kitchen serves nothing — coffee only, no food — which keeps the focus tight. Payment is cash or QR code; international cards are not accepted.
What separates this place from the broader Thao Dien cafe scene is sourcing-to-cup consistency. The roasting background shows in taste profiles that reviewers describe as reliable across visits rather than hit-or-miss. Prices run lower than the area average for the quality being served. The Hue smoothie — passion fruit and mango, made without sugar on request — signals that the non-coffee side of the menu is treated with the same seriousness. For anyone who drinks black coffee daily or wants to leave with a bag of quality Arabica, this is a working roastery that happens to have seating, not the other way around.
Reviews
The staff is very polite had ordered their Hue smoothie which is combination of passion fruit and mango, truly healthy and nice. Asked them no sugar and less ice and they accommodated my request. Everything is great but only downside is they don’t accept international cards only cash or QR code.
Nice little cafe with a dark inner vibe, nice tunes, mostly local customers right now. Got a salt coffee and it is very rich, very tasty, and very creamy. Nice one 👊
내돈내산 This area has many well-known coffee chains. Most of them are large and always crowded, with many people taking photos, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I was simply looking for a quieter place where I could have a coffee and read a book. I happened to come across this café and ordered a Vietnamese iced milk coffee, slowly sipping it while taking a break. If you come around lunchtime, when it’s not too busy, you can sit and relax comfortably, even though the street outside is constantly lively and bustling. This area has changed a lot since my last visit to Saigon.
Been here a few times now. Especially excellent Vietnamese styled coffee drinks as well as pour overs and western styled espresso drinks. Laid back atmosphere with mostly locals. Very good prices for such good drinks too. Has WiFi, and is QR code/cash only. Highly recommend
