It’s a very homey, stylish, and cozy restaurant. You can really feel the owners’ attention to detail in the interior, and we were able to enjoy dinner in such a lovely space. We ordered the mussels in salsa verde, paella, and Galician-style octopus, and everything was absolutely delicious. I would love to come back again.

CASA MARIA - Spanish restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Casa Maria occupies a quiet stretch of Ngô Quang Huy, one of Thao Dien's more residential lanes, and pulls together two things that rarely share a room in this neighborhood: a serious Spanish kitchen and a space that functions as much as a gallery as a restaurant. The art cafe designation is not incidental — the interior leans into it, with the kind of considered wall presence that makes the room feel curated rather than merely decorated.
The kitchen runs Spanish, which sets it apart in a district where the dining options lean heavily toward Vietnamese staples, Japanese omakase counters, and Western brunch spots without a clear national identity. Opening at 9:30 on weekdays and 10 on weekends, it covers the full arc from morning meals through to late evening — closing at 10:30 on Fridays and Saturdays — which gives it flexibility that many Thao Dien spots lack.
A 4.8 rating across 105 Google reviews places it among the better-regarded venues on that side of the Saigon River, suggesting the kitchen delivers consistency rather than occasional brilliance. The crowd it draws tends to reflect the neighborhood: expats, creative professionals, and residents who treat the area as a long-term home rather than a short visit.
For those working through a slow morning or looking for somewhere to settle into for an afternoon, the art cafe character makes it more comfortable for extended stays than a straight restaurant would be. Monday closures mean planning around a six-day week, but the extended evening hours on weekends make it a viable option for late dinner when most comparable spots have already shuttered.
Reviews
Come here if you are looking for an delicious Spanish food. The Paella is wonderful 🤤, tasty, fresh. The vibe is very chill, outdoor seating with a lot of greenry 🌿. The price is reasonable with the quality ❤️
Other than the final and most expensive dish - the octopus 🐙, the meal was very good. Very tasty dishes and fast conscientious waiters . Impressive . Particularly enjoyed the Spanish sausages, quite salty though . The restaurant is a nice layout too . Very beautiful art on the walls . As mentioned , the octopus was quite underwhelming. Wish the meal ended on a tastier note 🎵…
Low-key Spanish restaurant in the heart of Thao Dien. 1. Food: not too impressed. The paella came with high expectations but didn’t quite deliver. The complimentary dish with chorizo actually tasted more chorizo-ish than the ordered tapas which was supposed to be chorizo croquettes. Cheesecake was way too sweet. 2. Service: friendly, fast, relaxed. Though we didn’t really care for the fact that they let their poodle put its feet on our table. Happened 4 times during the meal and raised concerns about hygiene. 3. Ambiance: cozy, modern European decor. Not too large but that’s why it’s so comfortable.
A wonderful Spanish restaurant with authentic flavors and a great atmosphere. Every dish we tried was well-prepared and truly delicious. A special thank you to the kind boss for the complimentary cheesecake on New Year’s Eve — it was absolutely outstanding. The texture and flavor were exceptional, and honestly, I’ve never tasted a cheesecake like that anywhere else. Truly appreciate the generosity and attention to customers. Highly recommended, and I’ll definitely be back!
