What a cute space! The greenery surrounding the restaurant is so pretty and peaceful. I ordered the 'tahini tahini' falafel bowl and oh my!! It was absolutely divine! Perfect balance of all the ingredients. The staff were attentive & friendly. Great place to work on the computer, overall a great experience. I'm definitely coming back for that salad, one of the best I've ever had. So happy right now 😍

Green Box | Đ. Lê Văn Miến | Thảo Điền - Restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Green Box occupies a quiet stretch of Lê Văn Miến and has carved out a loyal following among Thao Dien residents who want something more inventive than a standard café menu. The kitchen pulls from at least half a dozen culinary traditions without feeling scattered: a Shawarma Ramah bowl pairs blackened chicken with za'atar, feta, and pickled cucumber; the Argentinean Herb Sauce bowl layers avocado and black beans over red rice; and the Pull Up Plate anchors everything with brown rice, daikon sauerkraut, and a jammy soy egg. The LGBTQ Bowl — quinoa, guacamole, bacon, poached egg, pickled red onion — is a reliable order for anyone who wants protein without heaviness.
The snack list rewards exploration. Corn chips come with a lemongrass salsa that leans Southeast Asian, French fries arrive with wasabi mayonnaise, and the Roasted Eggplant Dip is a miso baba ghanoush served with flatbread — an unusual cross that works. Beetroot hummus on sourdough rounds out a section that suits grazing over a long afternoon.
Drinks follow the same restless logic: hibiscus cold brew with cherry syrup and soda sits alongside lychee green tea and a straightforward peach iced tea. The café opens at 8 AM on weekends, making it one of the earlier kitchens on this end of the district for a proper brunch.
Green Box draws a mix of expats, local professionals, and the kind of health-aware diner who reads ingredient lists. It does not try to be a destination restaurant — the setting is unpretentious, the portions are calibrated for lunch rather than a long dinner — but the menu has more genuine thought behind it than most spots at this price point in Thao Dien.
Reviews
We stopped by Green Box around 11 AM with our toddler before heading out on a long car trip, and it turned out to be the perfect little break. The Red Detox drink was super refreshing—our toddler loved it! My cappuccino was excellent as well, smooth and well-balanced. We tried two noodle dishes—the ramen and a carbonara-style pasta. Both were just okay. The carbonara had a bit of a strong porky smell, and the noodles in both dishes were a little softer than we prefer. That said, the staff was incredibly kind and attentive, especially to our curious toddler. One even gently helped keep him from wandering too far while he explored. As we were leaving, we accidentally broke a glass and felt terrible, but the staff was so gracious—they told us not to worry at all and warmly invited us to come back again. And we will! Next time we’ll definitely try one of their salads (our toddler’s not a salad fan, so we skipped that today haha). Lovely experience overall, and we appreciate the warm hospitality. See you again soon!
My trusted salad place in town and I highly recommend you to come and try. Super fresh ingredients with a diversity of choices. You might get shocked by the size as well. It feeds your stomach well enough not to have any hunger later lol
This is a regular favorite of mine, the menu is not too complicated which makes all the food delicious and carefully prepared. All very reasonably prices, service is great.
🥪Food: Healthy and tasty, their sourdough bread was exceptional. The food was beautifully decorated 🪑Space: Pretty big with colorful and vibey design. There was a small market outside with vendors selling handmade items. However, the bathroom was not attentively cared for though. 💁♂️Service: We went on a Sunday noon and it was quite crowded so the servers probably were overloaded.
