I went in the middle of the week so the place was not crowded. When I came in, I was the only costumer and by the time I left there were few people downstairs. The balcony area was very nice and airy! The Korean owner was really nice, so as her staff! You can also buy plants outside the café! Great area! Highly recommended 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Dangdo Cafe Thảo Điền - Coffee shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
The animal-shaped puddings at Dangdo Cafe have become something of a neighborhood fixture — they wobble when the table is nudged, get photographed constantly, and reliably pull in parents with small children alongside expats looking for something outside the minimalist specialty-coffee mold that dominates much of Thao Dien. The space is compact and deliberately cheerful: bright colors, simple furnishings, staff who are consistently described as friendly and attentive across hundreds of reviews.
Beyond the puddings, the Greek yogurt is the sleeper hit — fresh, light, and noticeably less sweet than the dessert-heavy options elsewhere in the neighborhood. The mango smoothie is genuinely fruity rather than syrupy. Milk tea is available but runs sweet, which may not suit everyone. Matcha sits more in the serviceable range. The kitchen does a small menu and appears to do it well rather than spreading too thin.
A 4.9-star average across 282 Google reviews is unusually high for a café at this scale, and the feedback is consistent enough to suggest the rating reflects real execution rather than early-adopter enthusiasm. The foreigner-friendly reputation — several reviewers flag it explicitly — is a practical detail in a neighborhood where language can still be a friction point at smaller spots.
Open daily from 9 AM to 10 PM, the café fits easily into a morning outing or afternoon break rather than demanding a full meal commitment. Music volume has drawn occasional comments, so mornings likely offer the quietest window for those looking to sit and work. In a stretch of Thao Dien where cafés tend toward either serious coffee programs or upscale brunch formats, Dangdo Cafe occupies a distinct position: casual, colorful, and genuinely welcoming to kids without feeling like it was designed exclusively for them.
Reviews
Mom and I went here yesterday, it was cozy and the jelly cat dessert taste great! We also tried the hojicha coconut, it was soooo good. We had fun spending a short afternoon sitdown here, it's a very cozy cute place that serves yummy dessert!
A great spot to space out or simply enjoy a quiet coffee and small bites.
What a lovely little cafe. Staff were super helpful and just all round happy people. Great place to come and study or catch up on work. Also great place to bring the kids for a fun morning tea snack. The pudding were awesome. Cute, fun and wobbly. The strawberry sauce went so well with both the strawberry pudding and the matcha pudding. The vanilla pudding came with its own blue sauce and this topped it off. The fresh juices were a perfect match to the creamy puddings. We will be back with friends.
Cute puddings and mango smoothie very fruity, place warm and colourful.
