BIN'S HOUSE COFFEE - Cafe in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Bin's House Coffee occupies a compact spot at 40 Thảo Điền, with a ground-floor entryway holding two tables and a handful of seats, more room opening upstairs, and a balcony for watching the street below. The modest footprint hasn't limited its reputation — 131 reviews averaging 4.9 reflects the kind of consistency that only comes from getting the fundamentals right across hundreds of visits.
The specialty coffee menu draws on Vietnamese café traditions. Coconut coffee is the most talked-about order, made with shredded coconut rather than coconut milk, which delivers something distinctly textured compared to versions found elsewhere in the district. Egg coffee attracts regulars who come specifically for it, citing its balance of richness and espresso depth. Salted coffee and avocado coffee round out the specialty side, and coffee beans are sold for home brewing — a detail that signals the house takes its sourcing seriously. Prices sit at roughly 59,000 VND for specialty drinks, placing it at the upper end of mid-range for Thao Dien.
What the café does consistently well, according to repeat visitors, is atmosphere. The pace is slow by design. People arrive to work on laptops and stay longer than expected; small groups settle into conversations without feeling rushed. The staff draws repeated mention across reviews — attentive but unobtrusive — and the owner's visible presence gives the place a personal quality rarely found in the neighborhood's busier or more trend-driven spots.
Doors open at 6:30 AM daily, earlier than many cafés along Thảo Điền, making it a practical option for early risers who want something craft-level before the district fully wakes up. The combination of quality, measured pricing, and unhurried atmosphere has made it a regular fixture for local residents and longer-stay visitors alike.
Reviews
Cozy coffee bar in Thao Dien with a nice balcony to sit and relax with great tasting coffee. I especially like their coconut coffee 👍
Really lovely staff, super polite. The coffee is great too. The salted coffee really gave me a boost. If you're in the area, sit and hang out for a while. It's really chill. The only minor gripe I have is that there's way too much ice and not enough coffee, but still a pleasant experience.
My friend brought me there because it was his favorite coffee place. After getting the avocado coffee and spending some time in there. I understood why! The owner is very friendly and the vibe is so relax! I would recommend this place to anyone in the area!
I think there's more seating on second floor, but I stayed in the entryway area, which is pretty small. Two tables (one longer one, one smaller), with 3 or 4 other seats without a table. I've had an orange cold brew, but never an orange coffee (59K/$2.30), which is why I wanted to try it. The quality was ok. The size was good. The price is on the high end of mid-range coffee prices (which is not bad). I personally didn't care for it. It kind of tasted like Twister with a shot of espresso. I think they probably have stuff I would like, including coconut coffee, etc.
