Incredible dining experience with quality seafood flown in from across Asia but primarily Japan. Service was impeccable. The chef personally introduced us to the day’s fresh catches and prepared them how we wanted. By no means an inexpensive experience but definitely worthwhile if you have the means…

UME Sushi & Omakase Hoa Đào delivers a surprisingly refined and peaceful Japanese dining experience. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere feels calm and serene, with warm wooden interiors, soft lighting, and a relaxing ambiance that makes the whole meal feel very comfortable and intimate. The dishes were consistently excellent across the board. The sushi and nigiri were fresh, beautifully prepared, and balanced perfectly in texture and flavor — especially the grilled eel nigiri which was rich, smoky, and incredibly satisfying. The salmon rolls topped with roe and creamy sauce were both visually stunning and delicious, while the grilled squid was tender, flavorful, and paired very well with the savory sauce. I also enjoyed the seafood salad and chawanmushi, both fresh and delicately seasoned. Even simple dishes like the grilled fish and pistachios felt thoughtfully prepared. Presentation was elegant without feeling overly formal, giving the restaurant a premium yet welcoming character. What stood out most was how cohesive the entire experience felt: great food, beautiful plating, attentive service, and a tranquil Japanese-inspired vibe that makes you want to stay longer and enjoy the evening slowly. A wonderful place for a relaxing dinner, quality sushi, and a peaceful omakase-style atmosphere in Saigon.
We tried the Omakase set, coz it’s a big group so we didnt get to sit a the bar to see the chefs prepare or dishes. Overall, it was okay to my taste, some dishes we liked, some we didn’t, probably rating 7/10, not giving me a wow effect that I must come back to try more. But probably will come back to try their a la cart menu.
The location is rather convenient with the overhead link to Thao Dien station just a stone's throw away. Requested for omakase counter seats but was asked to put a 900k deposit. But when we didn't confirm, they proposed we come on time and we did. ( Frankly, I would have simply chosen another restaurant for omakase had they not replied.) There were limited number of seats in front of the chef, however some corner seats weren't ideal as they face the display panel of sashimi or the sink. Given the beautiful deco of the restaurant, more thought should have been put into the design of the omakase counter if they advertised it. The omakase set was prettily presented, but not as exciting as I hoped. The chef speciality turned out to be overcooked salmon and there was a dish of mediocre shrimp rice and boring piece of brownie. Saving grace were the stuffed chicken, shishamo and some unexpected extra dishes that was not printed on the menu. So the verdict is don't expect much from omasake unless you choose the highest range, maybe 🤷. Better off ordering ala carte, I suppose. That said, I am impressed that there are many people visiting the restaurant on a weekday evening, some to celebrate special moments.
The food is absolutely amazing. They have unique and delicious dishes here, some of which I've never tried at other restaurants. When I arrived, the Omakase counter was already full, so I ordered à la carte. There are so many dishes to choose from—I’ll definitely come back to try the Omakase.
