I've visited quite a few garden cafés in Ho Chi Minh City, but Cú Trên Cây remains one of the most memorable. What I love most is how the space gradually reveals itself. From the street, it looks fairly modest. Once inside, though, you'll find wooden cabins, hidden corners, rooftop seating, and greenery everywhere. It feels a little like stepping into the garden you dreamed of having as a child. The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between garden café and vintage hideaway. There are plenty of seating areas to explore, and each one has its own personality. There is also a large Quiet Zone for deep work sessions. The menu is much larger than I expected, with Vietnamese breakfast dishes, snacks, coffee, tea, smoothies, and desserts. The food is honestly stronger than the drinks in my opinion. My favourite combination is one of the Vietnamese breakfast dishes with either the Salted Cream Coffee or Egg Cream Coffee. If you're visiting with friends or family, I'd recommend ordering a few snacks and sharing everything together. Another plus is that it's very work-friendly. There is free Wi-Fi and are plenty of power outlets, and the background music is soft enough that it's easy to focus. If I had one small criticism, some of the outdoor seating areas can feel a little damp after rain or when the plants have just been watered. Overall, Cú Trên Cây is the kind of place where you may end up staying for half a day. If you're looking for a garden café with character, this is one of the easiest recommendations I can make in Ho Chi Minh City.

Cú Trên Cây Coffee - Cafe in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

Cu Tren Cay Coffee on Ung Van Khiem is not a large café, but its clever layout makes it feel much more spacious than it actually is. Instead of trying to be big, the café focuses on creating multiple distinct areas, each with its own vibe. There is an indoor section, a garden space, and a rooftop area upstairs, which helps avoid the cramped feeling that small cafés often suffer from. What really stands out is how heavily the space is covered in greenery. Trees, plants, and small landscape details are everywhere, creating a refreshing and nature-oriented atmosphere right in the middle of the city. The garden area feels cool and relaxing, while the rooftop offers a more open, breezy setting that works especially well in the late afternoon or evening. The indoor seating is cozy and calm, suitable for reading, casual work, or quiet conversations. Lighting is mostly natural, and the décor leans toward simple, earthy elements rather than trendy or flashy designs. The café feels intentionally “slow,” which is a nice contrast to the noisy streets outside. The drink menu is fairly standard, including coffee, tea, and fruit-based beverages, with reasonable prices for the area. Nothing overly experimental, but solid enough for most people. Overall, Cu Tren Cay Coffee is a great choice if you enjoy green spaces, layered environments, and a relaxed, down-to-earth café experience without the need for a huge venue.
Lovely cottage core, rustic themed cafe~ Parking is a bit of a hassle since it’s on the other street. Drinks are great. Decor is great. Vibe is great. There are a handful of little handcrafted keychains and ceramic bowl shops hidden inside. Overall a relaxing rest-stop on the bustling street. Would recommend for foreigners who would like to experience a trendy local cafe shop~
Came here on a rainy day, so the place was a little wet here and there - the outdoor area was completely wet, but luckily we reserved a spot for the five of us at the cafe and got the biggest table. :) There was a part of the roof that was dripping, so the staff were quick to put a bowl there to protect the water from splashing onto us. We ordered their various handmade cookies which were served with egg cream - loved the bear cookies that had cream in the biscuits and the salty long biscuits that fit well with the egg cream. Food was very nice, we tried banh mi with sizzling beef, fried noodles, and rice noodle soup - im not too sure of the names but they do have english translations under the vietnamese names for the menu. We finished the meal with lemon cake, which tasted lovely with a bite of the sweet lemon slice on top of the cake. The slight bitterness of the lemon complements the sweetness of the cake, which was less sweet than the lemon slice so it didn't feel overwhelming. Enjoyed the Egg coffee, Salted cream coffee and tea drinks tremendously - Cu Tren Cay is a cosy beautiful place you should visit at least once when in Ho Chi Minh. ;)
