Very very bad experience. I ordered a Vegetarian Banh Mi with eggs. Clearly stated vegetarian in their menu. They served me a banh mi with Pork Pate that i unfortunately ate partly as i trusted my order to be right. When i found I complained to the waiter and enquired more about the possible mistake and he that told me it was " normal" to have pork/chicken pate in the vegetarian Banh Mi... Besides that, they also having some promo of buy one banh mi (any) + one drink and pay 79 000vnd. They refused to apply the promo and i had to to pay the banh mi and drink separately, after he said that this was only applying for a banh mi that is nowhere found on the menu... Beware of the service and menu...
Memory Lane - Cafe in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Memory Lane occupies a spot on Lê Văn Miến in An Khánh, a quieter stretch of Thao Dien where foot traffic thins and the pace drops. The interior runs retro throughout — vintage décor with deliberate details — and stays air-conditioned, which makes it a workable all-day stop for anyone with a laptop and a few hours to fill. The kitchen opens at 6:30 AM and runs straight through to 9 PM, covering breakfast, lunch, and dinner without narrowing its identity.
The Vietnamese menu is where the place earns its repeat visitors. A bánh mì pate lands at 29,000 VND; the veggie stir fry runs 55k; the lunch set is 75k; a seafood ho fun — described as generous in size — sits at 90k. None of these carry hidden VAT or service charges on top, a fact that reviewers note with some insistence. Bánh mì chao is a morning anchor, a pan-cooked variant that has brought at least one group back for three consecutive days. The teppan egg with pate and sauce draws its own specific recommendations. Bún thịt nướng chả giò appears consistently as a standout among the lunch options.
The coffee holds up alongside the food, and the music is intentional rather than ambient wallpaper. Free drinking water arrives without asking. Staff are consistently described across reviews as warm rather than merely polite — an operational consistency that suggests it comes from ownership rather than rotation.
Saturday evenings push against capacity. One reviewer counted three parties turned away at closing, which places Memory Lane in a different category from the quieter, under-visited cafés on the same block. The 9 PM cutoff is the one practical constraint to plan around. For Thao Dien dining, where many comparable spots compete on aesthetics, this one competes on value density and a kitchen that delivers the same result visit after visit.
Reviews
Very cool and peaceful little cafe where everything is done with intention. One of the best banh mi I’ve had and hands down the best caphe trung.
Memory Lane is exactly what you need when looking for a calm and cozy spot. The portions are very generous for the price, the banh mi was rich and full of flavour, and the fresh coconut was absolutely delicious. The WiFi is excellent, perfect for working. The staff is kind and welcoming. Thank you so much!
Vietnamese food with relaxing feeling by mixture of good coffee and great music. Thank you for giving us a dedicated service.
I can't rave about this place enough. There are so many delicious restaurants in HCMC, but this takes the crown for Vietnamese food. Its a casual place, with top quality food at very reasonable prices. The Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio is particularly good, and the Banh Mi's. The restaurant is clean and nicely decorated with comfy seats and aircon and the owners are lovely. We discovered this place just before TET and the restaurant closed today, sadly for us (Feb 14th, open again 22nd Feb) otherwise we would be going back every day
