Pathetic experience. I am told some stupid celebrity thought of opening a food joint and this is the outcome. Street food sellers in and around Saigon offer better food and food that actually tastes good. Basic wooden tables and chairs that look like crying for help. Street food sellers have similar sitting arrangements. Coming to service, the waitress literally flung the coasters on the table while placing the drinks which once again was ice, water and some jelly floating to survive from drowning. The lesser said the better when it comes to food. It is not only overrated, but seem to lack the basic balance between taste and what amounts to salty and extremely unsavory feeling. I am amazed by those who have rated this place to be some amazing food from heaven kind of experience. Hell serves better meals.

ChanChan Vegan Noodle - Vegan restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

About This Place
ChanChan Vegan Noodle occupies a slim shophouse on Ngô Quang Huy with a deliberately retro Hong Kong aesthetic — wooden furniture, period detailing, and an interior that evokes 1990s-era noodle bars. The crowd skews expat and local Vietnamese alike, drawn by a menu that treats plant-based cooking as a serious culinary project rather than a dietary concession.
The kitchen works across several noodle traditions at once. ChanChan Mian — wide, chewy glass noodles tossed with fried mushrooms and plant-based protein — is the signature that keeps diners returning, and the pairing with house pickled radish is the specific detail regulars mention most. The Spicy Sichuan Dry Noodles bring flat noodles and a lip-numbing sauce that lands squarely in the Sichuan tradition. The vegan Bún Riêu layers konjac, fried tofu, tomatoes, and mushrooms over a characteristic sour-tomato broth. Alongside the noodle bowls sits a short dim sum section: delicate boiled Har Gow filled with finely minced vegetables, Char Siu steamed buns, and Magic Mushroom Tempura — crispy wrappers around king trumpet mushrooms.
Thao Dien has vegetarian-friendly cafés in abundance, but this is specifically a noodle restaurant operating at a different register — the kitchen is focused, the tables turn steadily, and 1,173 Google reviews at 4.5 stars point to something more durable than novelty. The house drinks lean herbal: cinnamon rice milk, goji berry and wolfberry tea, a short list of functional beverages that fits the overall tone. Desserts have shifted since the restaurant's early days, and some longtime patrons preferred the earlier lineup, but the core noodle menu has remained consistent. Portions are modest; service is attentive. The restaurant draws both committed vegans and omnivores looking for something lighter in a neighborhood that skews toward grilled meat and brunch eggs.
Reviews
ChanChan Vegetarian Restaurant is a local spot with a retro Hong Kong style. It gives you the feeling of being taken back to the 1990s. It’s a good option if you’re looking for light, wholesome dishes.
Love seeing a vegetarian restaurant with so many clients like ChanChan. The hype is totally deserved, the place is beautiful and the food is very good (try the fried mushrooms!). They did change their desserts a few months ago though, and I’m a bit less of a fan than before
I came here five times in just two weeks because I got completely addicted to this one dish. It’s so good that I would honestly come back to Saigon just to eat it again. I still crave it like crazy. This place deserves all the hype 🔥
Gorgeous little place I found while browsing the area I was walking through… I like trying vegetarian/vegan places and this one really impressed me. I had the Braised Tofu Noodles. It was very tasty and just a perfect dish as is. I paired it with a Passion Salted Plum drink which was quite good as well but rather small compared to the picture on the menu and the price paid. I felt a bit disappointed to see it coming in a metal mug when it could have been presented so much better. Otherwise, the place itself is gorgeous and welcoming split into 2 dining rooms across the street from each other. Staff was nice. Will definitely go back to try other items on the menu. Quite a short menu but perfect like this so they can perfect all items on it.
