Ordered half baked chicken and half roasted chicken. Disappointingly bland for both. Also, they asked to pay if we wanted extra radish and shredded cabbage, which is usually free at every Korean chicken spot I’ve visited. Guess they are struggling financially to be charging for basic banchan. Conclusion. If you still feel you want to try this spot, bring your own salt and/or other seasoning.

Ovenmaru Chicken Anphu - Restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Ovenmaru Chicken Anphu sits on Nguyễn Quý Cảnh in the An Phú pocket of Thao Dien, one of a handful of Korean chicken specialists that have taken root in the neighborhood as the local Korean community has grown. The concept centers on oven-baked chicken — a preparation that distinguishes it from the more common deep-fried Korean chicken shops in District 1 and Bình Thạnh. Oven cooking tends to produce a crispier skin with less oil, and that difference draws a repeat crowd that shows up in the numbers: 148 Google reviews with a 4.2-star average is a meaningful signal in a neighborhood where Korean restaurants compete hard for the same pool of expat and local diners.
The address places it slightly off the main Thao Dien drag, on a quieter residential stretch that fills up with motorbikes by early evening. Hours run 11 AM to 10 PM every day of the week, which makes it one of the more accessible Korean options for both lunch groups and early weekend dinners — a gap that competitors with later opening times leave open. The format is straightforward: order at the table, expect chicken as the main event, and pair accordingly.
Thao Dien has no shortage of Korean restaurants, but most skew toward Korean barbecue or multi-dish set menus. Ovenmaru Chicken Anphu occupies a narrower lane — one dish category, executed with enough consistency to build a steady local following. For anyone in the neighborhood looking for Korean chicken without the full Korean barbecue setup, it functions as a reliable weeknight option with enough of a track record to back that up.
Reviews
I odered the curry chicken. It is savory and decent. The food portion is quite big, my dish is suitable for a group of 3. But i had to waited for 30 mins for the food and the price is a bit higher than the average for chicken, my dish is 380.000vnd
Chicken is tender but crispy from the oven, not frying. The curry sauce is good, very similar to an indian butter chicken flavour. Higher price than some local food but they have regular specials, so Im a regular customer.
Good chicken with Korean style cooking. Great food. Price $$-$$$
Brilliant! Had the curry chicken plate. Everything was amazing. I'll be back!
