Lovely cafe with very tasty pastries. I got an iced latte and a pan au chocolat and it was delicious! 😋

Nabu Pastry - Coffee shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Nabu Pastry occupies a pocket-sized room on Đường Số 10—two tables, eight seats at most, takeaway the practical choice for most visitors. The restraint in scale matches the precision on the pastry tray: apple turnovers warmed to order, their layers shattering into butter and soft fruit; matcha croissants with a light cream center; avocado croissants that draw daily regulars. Sourdoughs round out the baking alongside drinks that lean toward the interesting, the apple kombucha among the standouts.
The interior reads European without forcing the point—warm materials, a quiet quality to the light, an atmosphere that makes afternoon tea feel like a considered ritual. At a price point noticeably below comparable patisseries in the district, reviewers have drawn the comparison to Marou-level quality at a fraction of the cost. That gap is the clearest signal of what the place is actually doing.
What sets it apart beyond the baking is how the owners and staff handle the room. Multiple reviewers single out the welcome specifically—not surface-level friendliness, but the attentiveness of a small operation where staff take time to suggest warming a pastry before handing it over. For a neighborhood dense with polished café concepts, that quality is not a given.
The format rewards planning: eight seats fill quickly, and peak weekend afternoons will see the room at capacity within the first hour of opening. Those with a flexible schedule or a willingness to take a croissant to the nearby streets will get the most from it. For French bakery craft at a standard that holds its own against anything else in Thảo Điền, the trade-off is straightforward.
Reviews
decent spot. tastes and looks like marou, but is significantly cheaper. the apple kombucha is pretty good, will be checking out other flavours…
Suddenly found this low-key pastry. Cute staff, delicious cake, friendly atmosphere
Nice to try avocado croissant, very fresh and well-baked, reasonable price for both drinks and bakes for a coffee shop in district 2. The owner is really nice and friendly. Small place with 2 table for maximum 8 people, take away is recommended.
I’ve walked by Nabu Pastry a few times and finally decided to stop in, and I’m glad I did. We came around 1pm on a Tuesday and were greeted by extremely friendly staff who made the experience feel warm right from the start. We tried the apple turnover and the matcha croissant. The staff offered to warm up the turnover, which was a nice touch. The result? A perfectly flaky, buttery pastry with a warm apple filling that hit the spot. The matcha croissant was just as good, with a light, creamy center that was generously filled but not overly sweet. The texture was spot on, crisp on the outside, soft and delicate inside. The atmosphere has a classic local French café vibe, which was relaxed, unpretentious, and inviting. Overall, I’d rate the experience a 4.5 out of 5. I’ll definitely be back to try more of their pastries.
