Offers a nice view over the river as well as chilly breeze in the evening. Spacious area but seatings are quite limited. Service was a bit slow eventhough there weren't many guests. Fees applied if you want to play with the cabybaras
Kapi Café - Coffee shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Kapi Café sits inside An Phú Residence, a private villa complex in Thao Dien, reached only by a golf buggy — locally called the kapicab — that ferries visitors through the gated grounds past substantial houses to the café at the far end. Motorbikes park outside the gate; the buggy ride is part of the experience.
The resident capybaras are the main draw. The 250,000 VND admission package includes a tub of animal feed, a cupcake, and a drink — reasonable for what amounts to a hands-on encounter with unusually sociable semi-aquatic rodents. Staff run a brief orientation covering hand washing and behavioral guidelines before visitors enter the enclosure. Across multiple reviews the animals come across as calm and accustomed to contact. A portion of the seating area overlooks the river, catching afternoon breezes, though the number of tables feels modest relative to the grounds' overall scale.
Drinks run to smoothies and standard café beverages beyond the combo package; food is available but clearly secondary to the animal experience. The outdoor space stays relatively uncrowded — a contrast to the density of most Thao Dien cafés — and the operational tone is deliberate and unhurried. The crowd skews toward families with young children and tourists covering the District 2 side of the city, alongside couples looking for an afternoon that breaks from the neighborhood's usual café-hopping loop.
Operating hours run 9:30 AM to 7 PM daily. Grab from the Thao Dien core takes around ten minutes; the venue is also reachable by metro with a short walk from the station.

Visited during our trip beginning of February. It's a little out the way from the tourist area but worth the trip. We got the metro and walked for 10 minutes or.just get a grab. You get in by a golf buggy taking you through a private residential gated area that looks very rich and get took back to the gate when ready to go. We got the drinks package 250000vd for a drink cupcake and food for the capibara. Health and safety is key. Hands washed and dos and donts explained. The capibara look well looked after and have a decent size living area. We loved our time and even bought more food for them. They sat almost on our knees and loved a tickle. Just like pet dogs. The staff told us all there names even the grumpy girl who was separate from the others but still had plenty of space. Highly recommend to go and it's a great escape from the madness of the city
Have just had a fantastic time here!! Just myself and my boyfriend went- very reasonable 250 Vietnam dong which included entry, a nice size tub of food to feed the capybara then a drink for us. You are up close and able to stroke & feed the capybaras (max was my favorite ❤️) The cafe and whole area is spotlessly clean, Capybaras are clearly well loved and cared for. Brilliant experience for all ages . Can throughly recommend.
Amazing place for both kids and adults! Kapi Café is a lovely place with a cozy atmosphere and lots of cute animals for kids to enjoy. The staff are very friendly and helpful, always ready to guide you around. The drinks and food are fresh and nicely presented, and the space is clean and comfortable. It’s a perfect place for families, friends, or anyone who wants to relax and enjoy a peaceful moment. Highly recommended!
The capybaras were awesome. The menu offers you a couple of varietys with the entry ticket (either -% of merchandice or cup cake). Not that bad for the entry but for sure could be less. The smoothies were decent. The place overall seemed quite chill, though inside some fenced, secured area were you are taken in by a "kapicab" and not allowed to take pictures of the houses. Some fancy neighborhood I guess. The service were normal. They offered also food which we did not try, smelled good though! A place to visit for sure.
