The Story

About This Place

Dram sits behind an unmarked door beside Stoker on Đặng Hữu Phổ — the kind of entrance that makes first-timers pause. Once inside, the scent of orange hits before anything else, a deliberate touch that sets the mood before a drink is poured. The lighting leans dark, calibrated to blur the line between late evening and deep night, which suits the crowd that gravitates here: expats, hospitality professionals, and couples looking for somewhere that doesn't feel like every other rooftop bar in the district.

The cocktail list rewards curiosity. Bartender Đạt walks newcomers through the menu with patience, and the Trinidad Sourz and Paper Plane consistently earn repeat orders. House signatures like Head over Heels and Mint Marshmallow Bailey round out what regulars tend to recommend. Food is limited but well-executed — the truffle fries, generously salted, have their own following.

Two evenings a week, the room shifts register. Tuesday and Thursday jazz nights bring a live band whose performances reviewers describe as soulful and lively, drawing an audience that returns specifically for the music. A pool table occupies one corner; a private Macallan den sits off to the side for whisky drinkers who want a quieter setting. A smoking room keeps the main bar clear.

Service is the distinguishing factor that separates Dram from comparable cocktail bars in Thao Dien. Staff members — An, Huy, Nhan, and Dat among the regulars — are mentioned by name across reviews with a consistency unusual even for well-regarded venues. Bar manager James runs a floor that feels attentive without hovering.

For an area well-stocked with casual wine bars and open-air rooftops, this bar occupies a specific niche: serious cocktails, live jazz twice a week, and a room that treats atmosphere as seriously as the drinks it serves.

Very chill drinking place with besties. They should recover the Saturday live band… then would be perfect!

A great and unexpected surprise! After a meal downstairs, we headed up to and incredibly authentic ‘speakeasy’ bar. The atmosphere was spot on, the cocktails delicious particularly the Trinidad Sourz and the Paper Plane. Staff were very accommodating, especially An, who demonstrated not only a vast knowledge but obvious passion for cocktails, both new and the classics. A pool table, live music, smoking room and a secret Macallan ‘den’ creates an ideal place for high quality cocktails and whisky.

Brilliant atmosphere and experience at the Bar. The first thing attracted me when first enter was the orange-like scent of Dram. Very elegent and unique. Everyone in the team, including Mr. James - the Bar Manager, was very supportive and delicated to me and my wife. About the drinks, I was pretty naive about cocktails and stuff, yet a bartender named Đạt gently and calmly explained each drink in the menu for us. Eventually, we got 4 glasses which were either suit us or tasty. Also, it was a Sat night and there was a Jazz performance. Amazing band. Overall: 💯/💯

It was a nice place. An, Huy and Nhan provided us with a cozy space and served us many delicious drinks. What impressed us the most was the way they talked to us, friendly and warm. The space was also elegant and full of charm.
