The Story

About This Place

Chandni Chowk occupies a spot in one of Thao Dien's food court-style complexes, a setting that contrasts pleasantly with the seriousness of what arrives on the plate. The kitchen draws genuine comparisons to subcontinental cooking from guests who have spent extended time in India — a meaningful benchmark in a city where Indian restaurants vary widely in authenticity.

The menu covers North Indian staples with confidence: fish tikka that holds its char and spicing, a chicken thali praised for coherent flavors and generous portions, butter chicken and mutton curry served alongside jeera rice, and cheese garlic naan that has developed its own following among regulars. Paani puri rounds out the lighter options for those who want to graze rather than commit to a full spread. Sweet lassi closes meals well.

Service has become part of the draw. Staff actively help first-time diners navigate unfamiliar dishes — one exchange that steered a guest toward the chicken thali produced what they called an unexpectedly standout meal. The team has also handled dietary restrictions carefully, adapting dishes for a child with a cow milk allergy without making it a production. That attentiveness has been noted across multiple visits by different guests.

The restaurant draws a mixed crowd: expats after a reliable fix, travelers encountering Indian cuisine for the first time, and groups making use of the shareable menu format. Positioned on Trần Ngọc Diện in An Khánh ward, it holds long hours — 11 AM to 11 PM seven days a week — which makes it equally practical for an unhurried lunch or a late dinner after the neighborhood quiets down.

When I was looking for a place to have lunch, an Indian staff member at this restaurant came over and recommended the chicken thali. He explained it nicely, so I gave it a try. It was way better than I expected. Super delicious, and I’d definitely order it again. Didn’t expect such great Indian food in Vietnam. Thanks for the great recommendation!

Rarely have I felt so compelled to write a review while still at the restaurant, but this place is THAT good. This is seriously some of the best Indian food we have ever had, and we spent one month in India last year, so I don’t make this claim lightly. Also located in a really cool food court type environment. 10/10 would recommend and we will be coming back.. many many times.
