The Story

About This Place

Bottega Thao Dien sits on Quốc Hương, one of the quieter residential streets that runs through the expat-dense core of Thao Dien. The name — Italian for workshop or artisan shop — signals the kitchen's orientation: Italian food made without fuss, served across a long day that starts at 8 in the morning and runs past 10 at night. That unusually wide window sets it apart from most Italian spots in the neighbourhood, which tend to anchor themselves to dinner service only.

The restaurant and sandwich shop format positions it as a genuinely all-purpose address. Mornings draw residents looking for something more substantial than a Vietnamese bánh mì, while the midday hours pull in the remote-work crowd who want a proper lunch without committing to a full sit-down dinner. Evenings shift the register toward couples and small groups.

With 129 Google reviews averaging 4.4 stars, the venue has accumulated a consistent following rather than a spike of novelty visits — the kind of rating that reflects repeat customers rather than one-off tourism. Quốc Hương itself is walkable from the cluster of apartment buildings between Nguyễn Văn Hưởng and Xuân Thủy, which means foot traffic skews local and residential rather than tourist-heavy. For anyone based in Thao Dien looking for Italian food that fits around a normal day rather than demanding a special occasion, the address and hours make Bottega a practical first call.

This is the best Italian Deli for freshly made sandwiches to order. Your choice of bread is Foccacia, Ciabatta, French Baguette and Panini all baked on the premises. Their meat and cheese selection is vast in choice. They also stock San Pellegrino drinks imported fron Italy. My favourite is the Limonata. Its really tangy. I've attached photos of sandwiches I have ordered and enjoyed over my many visits for lunch. Sometimes it's only my Aussie friend Chris and other times I have brought my wife and her Vietnamese friends and they were impressed by the Italian food. Their Gnocchi is also excellent.

It Used to be authentic and tasty always came every week. Now portions are small. Huge bread. Thin filling. Paper thin ham. Three small dried tomatoes. One slice of lettuce. Half empty sandwich basically so sad. Your photos show a full focaccia. The actual sandwich looks different now. Focaccia branch next street fills it properly. I get that ingredients can be expensive but Portion must match the price I pay. I pay full price for mostly bread. That is not acceptable it’s disappointing. I could make 3 sandwiches into one basically. Fix the portions. Fill the sandwich and We return again. Hope this feedback helps :)

I’ve been a fan since they only had their main branch in Hanoi. Not only do they stock amazing Italian ingredients, but they also make sandwiches using their fresh, house-baked focaccia. The ham and cheese are sliced to order, ensuring every sandwich is incredibly fresh. They offer high-quality items at affordable prices, including delicious gluten-free pasta, oils, and balsamic vinegar. It’s easily one of the best Italian delis in the city for daily use. Since you can also order their sandwiches via delivery, I highly recommend making the most of this shop!

Great Italian sammich spot. The food is delicious and clearly made with care. The staff were attentive and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. You can customize your sammich the way you like, and their burrata cheese is especially tasty. There is also more space to sit on the second floor, making it a comfortable place to enjoy your meal.

I'm liking this place a whole lot - been here twice already. I got a great sandwich to go the first time. And now just got their daily charcuterie wine promotion with it's two nice glasses of red with a tasty little selection of meat and cheese for really under $10 - unbeatable actually! If I could wish for just one thing, it would be to see a server here smile just one time.
