I’ve tried another location before, but this branch is not as good. The tables and chairs feel a bit dated, and the overall atmosphere isn’t as nice. My coffee was also disappointing. I asked for less sugar, but it still came out too sweet, and the coffee itself didn’t taste very good. Compared to their other location, this one feels like a downgrade in both quality and experience.
Bamos Coffee Thủ Đức - Cà phê 24h (Trần Não) - Coffee shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
Bamos Coffee operates around the clock seven days a week, which alone sets it apart from the expat café scene concentrated closer to the Saigon River. The layout divides between an interior study floor—quiet enough for sustained focus—and an open courtyard anchored by a fish pond and planted garden, a combination that keeps the place cycling through laptop workers, friend groups, and freelancers pulling genuine all-nighters. Weekend afternoons push the courtyard close to capacity, the crowd running heavily toward university students and remote workers who treat it less as a café stop and more as a base of operations.
The drinks lean toward Vietnamese-style café fare: the oolong milk tea draws consistent praise for its calibrated sweetness, while the coffee is honest rather than exceptional—adequate fuel for a long session rather than a pour worth lingering over. European espresso drinks are absent from the menu, which is worth knowing before arriving with a cappuccino in mind. Weekly acoustic sets bring live music into the rotation, and a charity souvenir program raises funds for children in the central highlands, adding a community dimension that goes beyond standard café programming.
An orange cat that occasionally claims a patron's lap has become part of the folklore. At midnight on a weeknight the courtyard is still occupied; by Sunday afternoon it is packed. Cleanliness gets mixed reports—particularly around the bathrooms and outdoor areas—and smokers congregate near the entrance, which affects the terrace experience. That said, the combination of round-the-clock hours, a genuine outdoor garden setting, and live programming has earned Bamos Coffee a cult following that persists across visitor types: students grinding through exam season, digital nomads between coworking spaces, and anyone who needs somewhere to be at 3 a.m.
Reviews
Paid a visit to this coffee at midnight with my friend. The vibe was chill and peaceful. Drinks were alright. There was a nice friendly orange cat, slept on my thighs 😆
First - open 24/7, it’s good. The place itself is actually very nice. There’s a spacious courtyard with a fountain, and the whole area feels pleasant and well maintained. It’s a comfortable spot to sit and relax. Unfortunately, the menu is extremely disappointing. For some reason, they don’t offer basic, standard drinks like a cappuccino or something like a raf coffee. Familiar European-style coffee options are completely missing. I just wanted a large hot cappuccino, but it’s not even on the menu. The Vietnamese coffee with milk is basically a tiny shot — around 100 ml — not a proper full-size drink. It’s a lovely environment, but the menu really lets the place down.
I can't believe there is a 24h cafe here. Nice environment, but the floors can be cleaner. I was here on a Sunday afternoon and the place is packed with youngsters working hard on their laptops. Drink is great. I ordered the Olong Milk tea, just the right amount of sweetness. Good place to do work and read a book except for smokers outside as the place is packed with people.
This hidden away gem is open 24 hours a day. It's a thriving hub for digital nomads, students and creative groups. The coffee is not off the charts, but is enough for doing an all-nighter. Coffee shop staff are coffee shop staff. You're not expecting sparkling service so you won't be disappointed. Altogether though, it deserves its cult following.
