Tartine Saigon - Thao Dien, Q2 - Brunch restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City

I live in New York and was craving a bagel after being in Saigon for about a month. The price is what I would pay for a bagel in NYC, but the lox would have tripled that price. Not bad! Here, the bagel was a bit small, but still very fresh and soft and I appreciated the herbs. I also got a homemade ginger ale that came with a lemongrass straw. Very refreshing and I could taste the fermentation, like kombucha! Unique selection of pastries too. Vibes are great and the staff is very attentive! Thanks Tartine

Food is pretty average but is a good brunch place. Employees are kind. If you want your pastries warmed up, you can just ask them. The aesthetics of this place is really nice too!

Have the standards and quality dropped over the past couple of months, especially with the price increase? It’s getting harder to leave positive feedback when there’s this level of inconsistency after 2-3 years trying various meals here. Could you please clarify whether the meal, particularly the burnt bread, was intended to be served that way? Is this the standard presentation, and is it something that the majority of your customers prefer? During my recent visits, this venue was not busy at all, so I do not believe this was due to unusually high demand or pressure on the kitchen. Please take a look at the pics for comparison. The unburnt made while busy hour, the burnt one while it was slow. Also the smoked salmon looks like it was going off with visible signs (gray colour), and it got served to my local VN friend. I hope my eggs royal were not the same case as they were covered by sauce. I have seen pictures of salmon dish posted by other customers on here and their salmon looked fresh and better than on our picture. I would also encourage management to consider whether the same level of service is being provided to all customers. It feels like different customers are treated differently by some staff members depending on whether they are regulars, locals, or foreigners, especially when it comes to greetings and basic courtesy like thanking guests. This impression is based not only on my own observation but also on feedback I have heard from local friends. On several occasions, it seemed quite noticeable that foreign customers received enthusiastic thanks and attention, while local customers often left without even a simple acknowledgement or thank you. As a result, it raises the question of why I should continue returning if my local friends do not feel equally welcomed, especially when they visit occasionally and are not regular customers. I had hoped that the days when some businesses appeared to value certain groups of customers more than others were long behind us. My review adjustment will really depend on whether I start seeing more consistency and improvement in both service and food quality going forward.
