La Creme - Finest Ice Cream - Ice cream shop in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
A 4.9-star average across 569 Google reviews is not a number that accumulates by accident. For a single-category dessert shop on a side street in Thảo Điền, it signals a product that performs the same way every day rather than occasionally. La Creme sits on Trần Ngọc Diện, a quieter lane that runs away from the heavier foot traffic of Xuân Thủy and the riverside, which means most customers arrive with intent rather than impulse. The name itself—'Finest Ice Cream'—declares a positioning the rating data appears to validate.
The operating hours reflect who the core audience is: weekends open at 10 AM and run until 10 PM, capturing the long-afternoon crowd and the after-dinner window in equal measure. Weekdays open thirty minutes later at 10:30 AM and close at 9:30 PM—still a generous evening cutoff for a dessert-only venue. This is a shop that takes the post-meal occasion seriously rather than treating it as secondary to lunch traffic.
Thảo Điền's F&B landscape is competitive and repeat-visit-driven. The neighborhood draws a mix of long-term expat residents, Vietnamese families, and a younger crowd that expects consistent quality from local independents. Sustaining nearly 600 reviews at 4.9 in that environment means the product has been tested across different palates and against the full range of alternatives the district offers. For visitors working through an afternoon in Thao Dien, or locals looking for a reliable close to a meal on Trần Ngọc Diện, the rating history here functions as an unusually reliable signal.

Okay, "finest ice cream" might be a bit of a stretch. Do not expect an eye catching ice cream display. They keep all ice cream in containers and put them in freezer. The flavour selection is not huge (around 15 flavours, including some seasonal options), and most of them are not exactly mind blowing. I mean, I am all for weird and wonderful flavour combos, but it is cool if they stick to the basics. Their fish sauce caramel ice cream is actually pretty good, funky, salty-sweet flavour. If that is a bit too adventurous for you, stick to the fruit sorbets, chocolate, or vanilla. Feel free to taste as many flavours as you like. If you are still not sure what to get, their tasting set (VND 120.000 for 4 small scoops) is a great way to try a few different flavours. Here is my take on the four I ordered: Strawberry Sorbet: Smells amazing, taste like summer, not too sweet, and has a mild refreshing coconut water flavour Mango Sorbet: A bit artificial, but the tajín seasoning adds a nice kick Honey Lavender: Buttery with a strong lavender aftertaste, but a bit icy Rum Raisins: Smooth and creamy at first, but it melts quickly, with a bold rum flavour and plenty of raisins They have both indoor and outdoor seating, but there are not many seats available. Overall, "fairly good" is a more accurate description than "finest."
The shop offers a wide variety of flavors, and everything we tried tasted great. The prices are very reasonable for the quality, and the staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming. They even let us sample different flavors before choosing, which made the experience even better. If you’re in the area, this place is definitely worth a visit! 🍦✨
Very interesting ice-cream choices with handmade waffle cones! Recommended!😍
I’d love to see more ice cream spots in Saigon invest in local flavors!! My favorite is the Honey Lavender (never tried that one before), the Chocolate Brownie (they have such big chunks of brownie), the Milky Caramel (so creamy!!!) and so many more. I love the natural ice cream, they don’t add artificial coloring or anything. They will invest in seasonal flavors depending on what Vietnam has to offer :) they use lots of local ingredients and also import quality ingredients from all over the world! The owners are a sweet couple with a great mission to make natural ice cream with local flavors. You can also do unlimited tastings until you found the flavor you like 😋 Love the aesthetic too!!
