The Story

About This Place

Chtite Cuisine occupies a small al fresco space on a quiet Thao Dien side street, running lunch and dinner service Tuesday through Saturday with a menu rooted in French bistro classics. The kitchen's quiche lorraine and steak have drawn consistent five-star praise, alongside a pâté et rillette plate — baguette, pâté, simple in presentation but well-executed — that regulars single out consistently.

Portions are notably generous; multiple diners have left with takeaway containers after misjudging the volume. Pricing sits well below what comparable French cooking commands elsewhere in the neighborhood, drawing a mix of French expats seeking comfort food and locals introduced via social media. The atmosphere leans toward the informal warmth of a family-run place rather than a formal dining room — one reviewer described it as eating at a grandmother's house, which appears to be the intended effect.

The house bread — crunchy, fragrant, and clearly made in-house — has drawn specific praise across multiple reviews. The smoked duck has received occasional notes about dryness, and the fried onion topping on the steak divided opinion. Cash and bank transfers only; no cards accepted. The space is pet-friendly.

The menu spans a broad range of dishes, and a few reviewers noted that some side ingredients don't consistently match the quality of the mains. Ordering conservatively — one fewer dish than instinct suggests — tends to produce a better experience given the portion sizes. Al fresco dining is comfortable in the evening but can run warm during midday service.

For the neighborhood, straightforward French bistro cooking at this price point and in this register is rare. Closed Sundays.

I visited after seeing their post on Facebook and found the entire experience to be very pleasant. The atmosphere is lovely, very warm, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and nice! The food surprised me, especially the breads—they were crunchy, flavorful, and incredibly fragrant (thơm). The salad was fresh. My only minor suggestions are that the smoked duck was a bit dry, and I personally wasn't a fan of the fried onions on the steak; I felt they overpowered the beef. Highly recommend this spot for the warm service and amazing bread!

This place is a gem. One of the best quiche lorraine and steaks I've ever had. And for a great price.

An Authentic French Experience Worth Trying We came here on a Friday evening, but it was quite empty. There was a great selection of dishes, and to be honest, it was a lot to choose from. The dishes tasted nice enough, and the portions offered great value. It was like visiting somebody’s grandma’s house, and the grandma was afraid you wouldn’t be full. The service was neither too bad nor too good. Overall, it’s worth trying, at least for the sake of the authenticity of the cuisine, as other French expats here said.

Little French restaurant bistro food style. I really love it, it reminds me of home and our simple comfort food. The dishes were pretty well served and very good.
