The Story

About This Place

On a quiet stretch of Võ Trường Toản in Thao Dien, Bollywood Indian Restaurant has built a steady following among the neighborhood's expat community, largely on the back of its takeaway operation. The kitchen turns orders around quickly, and delivery arrives hot — a consistent note across positive reviews. Pricing sits noticeably below comparable Indian spots elsewhere in Ho Chi Minh City, which draws repeat orders from residents who might otherwise find the category expensive.

The menu covers North Indian staples, and the dishes that attract the most praise are specific: the goat curry is rich and well-spiced, the chicken lollipop comes recommended, and the chutney sauce is frequently called out as a reason to return. The kitchen accommodates spice preferences, with the hotter option delivering a genuine kick rather than a token gesture. Rice is consistently cited as well-executed.

The restaurant shares proximity with the German Beer Hall in Thao Dien, and the dine-in setting is functional rather than atmospheric — most of the loyal customer base never actually eats on-site, ordering instead through delivery platforms. This shapes expectations: Bollywood Indian functions more as a reliable neighborhood kitchen than a destination dining experience.

The trade-off for the accessible price point shows up in some reviews: packaging has drawn criticism for not handling hot food well, and a handful of orders have arrived oversalted or inconsistent. The experience skews more reliable for regulars who know what to order than for first-timers picking at random from the full menu. For those who find their footing — particularly with the goat curry and lollipop combination — it fills a real gap as an everyday Indian option in a neighborhood where that category is underrepresented.

Ordered on Grab but should have read the previous reviews better, I feel mine sums it up right! - Too salty, actually a disgusting amount of salt that we couldn't finish the food, but tried. - Poor packaging for hot food. - Jasmine rice was just VN white rice! - Spices were good, but next day tongue still burned from uncooked garlic. - Cheap VN sweet butter used for the garlic naan! - Side salad was all dry from being cut a few days before and stored in a fridge. Basically go with a better quality Indian like Babas Kitchen is my recommendation

If you crave a nice and hearty Indian food. This place never fails to satisfy my appetite. The food is clean, simple yet tasty and rich in flavors. It is also one of the most reasonably priced Indian restaurants in Thao Dien. The staff are amazing too.

Ordered Chole bhature, I didn’t like the Chole masala as it’s tomato based and not much masala. On top of that there was food colouring added. no pickles or sides provided, very average
