The Story

About This Place

Bảo bối sits on Song Hành, steps from Mega Market in An Phú, and has built one of the stronger reputations in District 2's Korean dining scene. A 4.8-star rating across nearly 4,000 Google reviews reflects a kitchen that runs a focused menu of Chinese-Korean crossover dishes with enough consistency to convert first-timers into regulars.

The tangsuyuk — crispy pork in a glossy sweet-and-sour sauce — is the dish that keeps people coming back. It surfaces repeatedly in reviews not as a casual mention but as a craving satisfied: diners make deliberate return trips for it. The jjamppong arrives as a fiery, seafood-laden broth with a cream variation available for those who want the depth without the heat. Jajangmyeon, black bean noodles coated in a sauce that balances umami against gentle sweetness, draws its own dedicated following. Portions throughout the menu run generous — the squid stir-fried jjajang noodles, for instance, is flagged as sufficient for three to four people.

The room is casual and unfussy: table bells, a water jug at every table, staff who greet and farewell each table. Free kimchi is available for self-service, a detail that regulars mention with clear approval. The crowd skews young and local, with groups coming in for team dinners and weekend meals. Pricing holds at a level that supports repeat visits rather than occasion-only dining.

Within Thao Dien's landscape — which leans heavily toward Western and fusion concepts — this restaurant fills a specific gap: a Korean-focused menu with the execution and consistency to satisfy both Korean food regulars and newcomers to the cuisine, at price points well below what expat-facing restaurants in the area typically charge.

If you’re craving authentic Korean-style black bean noodles in Ho Chi Minh City, Bảo Bối Jajangmyeon in District 2 is a hidden gem worth checking out. The noodles are perfectly chewy, coated in a rich and savory black bean sauce that balances sweetness and umami beautifully. Portions are generous, and the side dishes (especially the kimchi and pickled radish) complement the meal really well. The restaurant has a cozy, casual vibe—ideal for both solo diners and small groups. Staff are friendly and attentive, making sure you feel welcome from the moment you walk in. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and the food comes out quickly, even during busy hours. One highlight is their consistency: every visit feels just as satisfying as the last. If you’re in District 2 and want a comforting, flavorful Korean meal, this spot should definitely be on your list.

Right next to Mega Market. The food is truly amazing, especially the tangsuyuk, you can eat it over and over without getting tired of it. This is what we'll definitely come back for *updated: we actually came back for the tangsuyuk, been craving it ever since

Surprisingly popular with the locals. the Jajangmyeon is good but the portion of the noodles is not much, maybe I ordered small portion. The sweet and sour pork comes with a bit of fats, that’s why it’s not so dry, and fried correctly, really nice. Will come back for the jjampong.
