The aesthetic of the place gave out a vintage, relax vibe, BUT the staff were very tense and unwelcoming. The lady who took our orders made us feel like we were an inconvenience, and her smiles also felt ingenuine and a bit sarcastic. The coffee and sweets tasted good, but, unfortunately, due to the unwelcoming attitude of the staff we will not be coming back to this place. Suggestion: Be friendly and welcoming, as these are very important in the service industry. I do hope you guys will improve and learn how to build a good rapport with your customers. Good luck!

The Brownie by Tia - Dessert restaurant in Thao Dien, District 2, Ho Chi Minh City
About This Place
The Brownie by Tia occupies a quiet corner on Đường số 54 in Thảo Điền, drawing regulars who return for its dense brownies and some of the best burnt basque cheesecake in the neighborhood. The space leans into vintage aesthetics — antique touches and a calm that makes it easy to lose an hour over a laptop or a slow conversation.
The Korean owner runs the shop with a warmth that shows up in small gestures: offering cookies to toddlers, lending a raincoat to customers caught in the rain. Kongbob, the resident poodle, adds to the mood without being intrusive. Drinks are calibrated to complement rather than compete — lattes land on the less-sweet side, and fresh juices come without added sugar, a deliberate contrast to the richness of the desserts.
The brownie lineup is the main draw: the dark chocolate walnut brownie holds its ground, the red velvet cream cheese brownie has its own following among regulars, and the brownie-with-ice-cream combo earns consistent mentions. The burnt basque cheesecake and earl grey cheesecake round out a short but focused dessert menu. Pricing leans toward the higher end for Thảo Điền, and each guest is expected to order at least one drink — something to weigh if the desserts are the only reason for the visit.
The crowd skews toward solo workers on weekday afternoons and small groups on weekends. It sits away from the district's busier café strips, better suited to someone after a slower pace. Staff consistency has varied across reviews, but the physical space and the desserts remain the consistent pull.
Reviews
I really loved this shop in Thảo Điền. The shop is nice and cozy. They serve a wide range of of sweets from cookies, brownies, burnt basque cheesecake. Personally, i love the brownie served with ice cream and ealgrey cheesecake the most. This place has the best cheesecake out of all shops i have tried. The matcha latte is also very good. Moreover, you can meet kongbob the poodle, he is very friendly and lovely
I’ve been coming to this coffee shop regularly lately to work. The drinks and cakes are usually nice. However, the experience with the staff has unfortunately made me feel quite uncomfortable. There’s one staff member in particular who consistently shows no friendliness or welcome, no smile, no greeting, just a cold attitude that makes the whole atmosphere less pleasant. On one occasion, I ordered an orange juice without sugar but it came with no sugar and no ice. When I politely asked for ice, I was told twice that “the shop is serving orange juice without ice.” I honestly questioned for a moment whether it was a rule or if they simply had no ice. I then asked again if she could bring me some ice if available, and while she eventually did, she returned without saying a word, placing the glass down with visible attitude. It’s not just me, even my friends noticed the lack of warmth from the staff. While not everyone there is unfriendly, just one unpleasant experience can really affect the atmosphere.
It’s a quiet and peaceful café with a vintage atmosphere, perfect for getting work done. It’s a go-to spot for brownies in Thao Dien. I especially love their red velvet cream cheese brownie and dark chocolate brownie. However, it is on the pricier side if you’re going alone. I can’t take advantage of the brownie combo on weekdays because I can’t drink coffee.
The best brownie ever!!! Cute coffee shop, cozy space to enjoy your coffee with your friends. Lovely dog too ❤️❤️
